An Honest Vow • 1/2
Shoji had been living with you for seven years. The two of you remained in the same apartment the whole time, but it was a nice place to live. You had been twenty-four, him twenty-three, so you had both been adults for awhile. Now, seven years was a long time to have lived with a partner you had no significant ties to. The two of you had been dating for nine years, soon closing in on your tenth. It was stressful and exciting for the both of you.
The man was currently sitting at the shared desk that was sitting in your room. He was working ahead on some paperwork for Gang Orca when his phone began to vibrate. Shoji hadn’t been expecting a phone call, but he assumed it was from you, who had been out on a patrol. Without even looking at the caller ID, he pressed the green button and held the phone to his ear. “Hello?” His voice had become much deeper as the years went by.
A masculine sigh came from the other end, causing the boy to do a quick double take. “Hey, I need to talk with you.” It was Bakugou.
Raising his eyebrow, Shoji leaned back in his chair. “What’s up?”
There was a pause, causing him to check his phone to see if the blonde had hung up on him. He hadn’t, so he pressed the device back to the side of his head. “Have you proposed to (Y/n) yet?” Bakugou asked quickly, contemplating if he was really about to ask what he was originally going to.
The man sputtered in surprise. “No, why?”
Another pause. “Do you want to?” He was speaking with a slight stutter, obviously nervous.
“Bakugou, what are you getting at?” Shoji put a hand to his uncovered chin while another hand ran through his hair.
The blonde clicks his tongue. “Shitty Hair has been wanting to go on a double date with you and (Y/n). She ever brought that up?”
“Yeah. I never took her seriously, though, because I’m not sure how you’d react.” He grabs a pen from the desk and begins to flip it between his fingers.
“Well, I have an idea. If you’re up for it, that is.” Shoji could hear the smirk on the other man’s face as he spoke.

“Wait, so when are we leaving tonight?” You ask your boyfriend while washing the shampoo out of your hair.
He laughs to himself while spitting out his toothpaste. “I’ve told you three times. Bakugou and Kirishima are coming to get us in two hours.” He states for the fourth time. “Do you need more time?”
You laugh and shake your head, moving the shower curtain to peak out at your lover. “No, I’m just forgetful sometimes.” You pull the curtain back before finishing up your hair. “Oh my gosh, Kirishima called me last night and was so excited. You should’ve been home to hear him going on about the double date.” A laugh echoes throughout the bathroom.
“Well, you should be thanking me. I left to get you dinner last night because you forgot to eat on your way home.” He smirks before walking out of the bathroom. “Just because you’re oh so forgetful, I thought I’d remind you.”
He had told you to wear something nice. He himself was going to wear a dark blue suit with a matching tie that tucked into his vest. Shoji even made the decision to go without his mask. It wasn’t the first time he had done that in public, but he had never gone out with anyone but you with it off. His hair was in his normal style, but it was longer, and seemed to have a slight wave to it. He always hated the fact that the longer his hair got, the more it would start to curl or become wavy. You seemed to love it, though.
