I woke up exhausted on my couch, to the sound of clashing pans in the kitchen. 

"Hello?" I asked cautiously, walking over. 

"Benedict! Hello! Feeling better? Feeling good? Thought I'd make us breakfast. Then we'll talk. Properly." Martin stumbled over his words, looking at me nervously. 

As if I'd break.

"Mate, actually, if you're okay with it, I'm feeling pretty rough and just wanted some time alone."

He looked concerned. "Actually, I think I better stay Benedict."

"If you don't let this out, it will eat you away, you know," he stared at me.

"I know."

"So lets have a chat? What's been going on in your head?"

"So much. Feels like it's racing at 500 miles an hour most of the time, to be honest," I half laughed at him, "I just don't feel in control."

"That's because you're not."

I'm not sure that's actually good advice, Martin.

"We all have this vision of what we want our lives to be, but realisitically, it's not always going to be that way. We have no control over what happens, but we can control how we deal with it. And, I'm not going to lie, you've not been doing a great job."

I smiled at him, "you're right."

"well, why don't I make you a cuppa?" He started to get up, "oh, and don't check the papers."
