Mom came home early from work. I knew something was up. I waited in the kitchen for her to come inside. When she finally came in, she was on the phone, stressed and confused. "I just don't understand, you're selling the house?!?" "I understand we're just renting it from you but we are still living here, how could you kick us out like this?". Oh no. We were getting kicked out. This can't be happening. My first year of no longer being a high school student had just started and this happens. Suddenly, my mom hung up the phone. "Mom, are you okay?" I asked. Mom has never been the type to freak out or stress about anything so when she answered in a shaky tone, I knew it was worse than I had expected. "Cheyenne, we have 2 weeks to find a new home and be out of this house". My heart dropped. What were we going to do? I couldn't get the right words out of my mouth so I just held my mom's hand.
After it felt like an hour of silence, I finally got up the nerve to speak. "Mom, no matter what happens, I love you. I will get a job and work as long and as hard as I can to get us a house." I said with my voice cracking through tears. She looked up at me and said with a smile upon her face, "I love you too". I gave her a big hug and a kiss on the cheek, made her a cup of tea and we watched a movie together, just the two of us. We decided to begin packing tomorrow, mom had a long day.
