Backstory: Anna was never allowed to practice waterbending outside of healing purposes, so she practiced by herself in secret after watching others do it. Once Aang and the rest of team avatar arrive, she immediately admired Katara for being able to waterbend freely and admired her even more when she witnesses the fight between her and Paku. She decided to keep waterbending and joined team avatar after the events in the northern water tribe.

Backstory: Hibiscus's parents were nonbenders, so they were more than surprised to find out Hibi could firebend. She grew up being told what the fire nation really did and wanted to use her fire for good, so she became a spy for the earth kingdom, she knew however, that no one would believe her in Ba sing sei, so her best bet was the avatar.
