If you asked me about Barry Allen, I wouldn't consider him my boyfriend. We talked ALOT during the day, whether it was through text, Snapchat, or late night face to face conversations. We flirt with each other all the time, and both knew our feelings towards each other. We both knew there were feelings there, but we didn't acknowledge it. When we sat together, there was virtually no space between us. These last few days when we've talked, he's rested his head on my shoulder. I swear, we were so close to kissing one night. My face became so red with blush and I became nervous that I'd always look away.
But there was one night in particular that I'll always remember. Barry texted me one night with the message: "could really use some cuddles, though". I knew this was his way of asking me. I responded, cheekily: "is that an invitation?". He later responded: "it could be" with the winking emoji. I blushed and looked up from my phone. I replied: "bet" before turning to my friends. I was sitting in one of my friends' dorm rooms. They knew something was up when I began blushing.
"So...Barry just invited me to his room", I said, looking up slowly from my phone. The girls squealed with excitement.
"And..."
"I'm going to go up there", I replied, feeling the butterflies in my stomach. I didn't know if it was anxiety, or just because I didn't know what to expect. I've never had a real boyfriend before. I did have something with someone the first semester, but not like this. I didn't get the same feeling he gave me. I was with the guy for three months and never kissed him. It didn't even feel like a real relationship.
"Be safe," one of my other friends joked as I hopped off her bed and reached for the door handle. I chuckled.
"Here I go," I replied as I stepped out of the door and into the hall. I rounded the corner and walked down the corridor, examining the nametags until I found his on his door. I took a moment to breathe and knocked on the door. I heard shuffling from behind the door, and in a matter of seconds the door opened. Barry stood there in his pajamas, a smile on his face.
"Come in," Barry said as he stepped back and allowed me to walk into his room. I could see vaguely through the light of the television the little items he had scattered on his desk and onto of his dresser. Overall, the room wasn't messy at all. I walked over to the television and saw that he was watching a cartoon. He grabbed his remote and hopped onto his bed. My stomach dropped. I didn't know what was going happen. I was so afraid he was expecting something else from me, and I'd have to push him off and tell him no. But this wasn't the case at all. Instead, he laid down on the bed and patted the space next to him. I slid off my slippers and crawled into bed next to him. He wrapped me up in his strong arms and pulled me into his chest. We laid there for hours watching numerous episodes of "Rick and Morty". Throughout the episode, Barry placed numerous kisses to my cheek and face.
After many episodes, I noticed them time: 3:23am.
"I have to wake up at 8:30 for a 10am class", I said as I got up slowly and looked back at him. Barry frowned.
"Alright...Sorry for keeping you up." Barry sat up and leaned against the wall.
"Worth it," I replied before stepping down from his bed and putting my slippers on. I stepped slowly towards the door. I felt arms wrap around my waist and turn me towards his body. It was Barry, pulling me in for a hug. I gripped him tightly. He reciprocated my action and gripped me even tighter.
"Calm down, Bar..." I replied with a chuckle. "If you squeeze me any harder my head's going to pop off".
"Sorry...I just don't want you to leave".
"Me either...But I have class...".
"Okay," Barry pouted before planting a kiss on my cheek, causing me to crinkle my nose.
"You're so cute when you do that. I think you like cheek kisses the best", Barry responded before opening up his door for me. I stepped out in the hall and gave one last glance before walking down the hallway back to my room.
I guess we could consider that a first date...I thought to myself as I crept back into my room, trying to not disturb my roommate I changed quickly, set my alarm, and got into bed, dreaming of this perfect night.
