anecdote: michelangelo's statue

CRITICISM

Michelangelo had finished his masterpiece, the heroic sculpture of david. The man who had ordered it, the gonfaloniere soderini of Florence, came to inspect it .
"The statue looks all right," said the man, "but don't you think the nose is too big ? I think you should make it smaller".
Michelangelo said , yes , indeed , he hadn't noticed it. He mounted the twelve-foot scafflod. He gave david's nose a few loud-sounding but harmless blows with his hammer , letting fall a handful of marble dust which he had gathered up from the floor below. As he came down to the critic , the latter remarked:
"Ay , now you have given it life indeed!"

Well actually its true! People only know how to criticise rather than appreciate someones talent, yet best answer given !
