Ayaan and A Mother

The omega’s name was Leif. His old pack beat him, had used him as a servant, and worse. After the beta, and only person he trusted, had beaten him in the woods and left him for dead, he ran. The extent of his injuries and circumstances had lead to an early shift. He was somewhere around thirteen and fourteen. No one knew his birth date anymore.  He ended up having short light brown hair, kinda blue-green eyes, and pale skin after his bath.

The hunter, Ayaan, had been left at the Hunters gates as a child. He had been raised a hunter and lived on the job. He admitted he wasn't very up to date on what was going on with the war and other events. He only went into town to buy supplies and rest a night or two. He was paid an annual sum to roam around and hunt rouges by the surrounding packs. He was fairly used to running into royalty coming and going to the castle. Their treatment of him wasn't pleasant to say the least.

We had moved to a cave that Ayaan used as a base. I put myself to work patrolling the surrounding area and hunting. I had ran fifty miles from the castle. I hoped daily the Sago would show up or catch my scent, but I knew it wasn't likely. Leif insisted that he cleaned since Ayaan was still working and I defended and hunted. I really hated that he flinched if one of us raised our hands to high, touched him, or reached for a weapon. Once me and Ayaan had an argument about me eating twice as much as he did and Leif shifted and ran. We had to search for him for two hours. Ayaan and I apologised and promised not to fight if he was in the cave.

I was returning with a deer I had caught after a day of patrolling the borders. Ayaan normally came back just after I did. Once or twice he'd run a rogue back here and have me help him kill it or get away. He had agreed that if anymore rouges where still savable like Leif that he would bring them back here. From there we would decide if they were trustworthy and offer them a place in the pack I was trying to build, or if they couldn't be trusted and I would send them off. Ayaan reminded me often that someone like Leif was rare, but I had to start somewhere.

“Prince Kai, you're back! Dinner is almost done. I found a pine tree while I explored a little outside. I can make beds for everyone if we can break down a few branches…. Which I need your help with… but it will be better then sleeping on the cold stone. How was your day?” Leif asked. He had warmed up to me after I had given him the soap. He still didn't like Ayaan hardly at all, but he was to gentle.

“Leif, you know you can just call me Kai right? Dinner smells amazing, and of course I'll help you. It's a very good idea, the cold was starting to make my muscles hurt.” I replied easily keeping up with Leifs nervous rambling. “I caught a deer and had no incidents while I was on the border, so I'd say pretty good.” I looked to the growing stack of furs from my prey. “Leif?”

“Yes prin- Kai?” Leif answered as he stopped stirring the stew he was making.

“Do you know anything about furs?” I asked carefully, trying not to me myself look stupid, or push Leif into doing anything.

“Not much. Why?” He asked tilting his head confused about the seemingly random question.

“We really need to sell or tan them. I have no idea how to tan them, and I can't sell them myself. Ayaan seems to exhausted by the time he comes back, and seems to never have the time. So I thought you may be able to do it. You don't absolutely have to if you don't want to.” I said and Leif frowned.

“Me? What if he takes control again and you aren't around?” Leif said stirring the soup again. He was referring to his wolf. Omega’s didn't click right with their other half, and had trouble controlling them. Alphas and the pack helped keep them under control, and could take them down. Leif had more trouble than most.

“Hmm." I said grinding my gears for a solution. We had to start making money, and I couldn't be seen. "I'll be as close as I can get without being spotted. If someone in the city sees me and reports that I'm still alive to King Kasen, he will burn down the entire forest to get to me." I said knowing it was stil a big risk.
