"Uchiha Itachi,

You are hereby summoned to The Hidden Leaf village following unsubordinated actions that were conducted in Sound in regards to a mission #0057.

Please bring with you any evidence to prove you lawfully conducted yourself. You should also be prepared for hearing that will call into question your eligibility for the Council. The charges are as follows:

-The mission statement was not followed, thereby endangering ANBU members by taking on a threat they were not prepared for.

-Did not obtain permission from the Hokage to eliminate the wanted person known as Pein, or his given name Nagato.

Regards,

Lord Shimura Danzo."

"Unbelievable." Naruto said aloud as Itachi finished reading the official document. Itachi had read the message without indicating how he felt, and his eerily still posture was no further indication. "Are you okay?" Naruto asked quietly.

Itachi let out a small sign and put the note carefully down. "It's just such a bother." He said nonchalantly.

"That's it? Itachi this jerk is threatening you with these stupid claims! What does that even mean; didn't get permission from the Hokage to kill Pein? Are they stupid?" Naruto burst loudly, upset more by the letter than Itachi.

He grabbed Naruto's hands in his own and met his eyes, "The Council, and Danzo especially are always doing things like this. It's not about the mission, they just do not want me to join them and jeopardise the unlawful things they have going on." Naruto scrunched his eyebrows, confused at the information.

"I thought the Council were the good guys?" Itachi rubbed Naruto's hands gently.

"That is what they would have everybody believe, yes."

"Jeez, everything is really screwed up, huh?" The blond said and sat back. Exhausted, it seemed it was always one issue after another. "At least they didn't add 'associating with a known subspecies' to your list of 'charges' huh?" He joked lightly. Itachi snorted.

"Surely you do not mean yourself?" Itachi asked and Naruto nodded.

"You didn't know? Yeah, technically people are legally not allowed to associate with me." Naruto continued to joke but the pain of the words hung in the air.

"That's awful, Naruto." Itachi caressed his hand once again for comfort. A moment passed before Itachi spoke again. "Why is there such a law?"

"Some stupid myth," Naruto growled, a second passed and he stood. "In fact, stay here I'll be right back." He exited the room, and true to his word not long after he returns with a book in hand. Clearing his throat he sat again beside Itachi:

"Before the year 650, all species lived in harmony with one another. The fox shifters, in particular, were profound members of society. On what was said to be a prosperous spring, a nine tailed fox demon appeared in the Land of Fire to cause havoc on all those who lived there. Thousands were slaughtered by the beast that stood taller than all their buildings and trees.

It was said that the beast was contained into a fox shifter by an unknown man in an attempt to stop its the murderous rampage. After hearing this, villagers and soldiers went on to prevent the demon from appearing again, to do so, the local fox shifters were all sacrificed. To this day the fox shifters continue to appear even without a bloodline to come from since the sacrifice of their ancestors. Some attribute this to the nine tailed fox demon (also know as Kyuubi or Kurama) using his powers to call into existence fox shifters so that he may have a body to live in and perhaps be released from."
