MESSED UP.!

CHAPTER SIX

Sabry's walk home was shorter than usual as her mind was very busy thinking of Talia. She just couldn't get her off her mind. Everything about her amazed and aroused her.

"Hey! Watch it! You might get hit by a bus next time" an old lady cursed releasing Talia's thoughts from Sabry's mind. She almost hit her!

"I'm sorry grandma!" She apologized and gave her a hand in crossing the road.

"Be watchful next time kid! Okay? See you!"

"Ok grandma! See you!" Sabry waved.

She reached home  and felt something was off when she saw the door was unlocked. Her mom always locked the doors and so this was unlike her!. She prolly thought that there was a break-in. She sighed and pushed the door open.

The house was a total mess which was unusual. Their home was always tidy. Everything was literally scattered  and when she saw blood stains on the floor she was so scared to even move an inch.

Still in shock, she heard some commotion in her mom's room, this immediately gave her an adrenaline rush- she didn't hesitate and immediately threw her schoolbag on the floor, picked a  knife as it was the only thing she could find at that particular moment and headed to the bedroom.

Just before she got there, she heard a gunshot...her blood pressure shot immediately as her heart pumped against her chest.. she got there just in time to see a manly figure attempting to escape through the window.

Sabry felt her wrinkles forming as she clenched her fist before throwing the knife at the man. The knife managed to cut his arm  below his eagle tattoo just in time before he jumped off.

Sabry reached for her poor mother who was lying helpless on the floor.  Blood was oozing from her chest. Sabry almost fainted when she saw the hole in the chest..

"He-l-l-o 911, it's my m-o-m she's been shot hurry please"

"Calm down! Street address please?"

In no time, loud  sirens could be heard. 
Her mom was laid on the  stretchers and rushed to the hospital. On their way, Sabry couldn't help but cry her heart out as much as she tried so hard to be strong for her mother.

Immediately they reached the hospital,her mom had to undergo surgery, Sabry paced back and forth outside the theatre awaiting her mother's fate.

  Her gaze spotted the waiting bench. She sat opposite the  TV  trying to atleast stop worrying but she couldn't. At that moment, she was very vulnerable and all she could do was to pray to God to keep her mom safe and sound.

She might have slept for some hours on the waiting bench when she heard her name.  "Sabry Jeavens!.." the doctor called out.

"Yes!" She answered as she yawned and stood heading towards the doctor.

"The bullet kind of brushed her chest and so, the operation was successful, we kind of managed to remove  the bullet. She is currently in a stable condition and we are hopeful as she is going to pull through!" she assured her with a smile.

"Thank you God!"Sabry said as she kissed her hands and looked up the ceiling. " Can I see her now?"

"Well! You can go inside but she really needs to rest....."

Sabry  went to the ER - It was painted white blue, stench of medicine and syringe filled the air, there was a bed, a sofa and a small cupboard near the bed. The large window managed to allow in some fresh air.

There she was, lying helpless with ventilators to help her breath and electrocardiogram machines matching and calculating the rhythm of her heartbeat with every beep. She was  fighting for her poor life as the Moran who shot her ran scot-free.. she brushed the thoughts as she just wanted to focus on her mom's well-being  at that moment.

She didn't wanna leave her side even for a moment. She kept checking on her every few minutes just to make sure she was ok. Sleep was almost catching up to her when she heard her mum groan..

" Mom! Are you okay!! I'm so glad you finally up!! How are you feeling now?? Should I call the doctor!"

"Gummy bear! There you are! I'm fine baby! Are you okay?? I was scared I was gonna loose you! Did he harm you?"

"Mom! I'm fine! Totally fine! He didn't get to me! Who is he mom?"

"It's a long story babey! H-h-he  i-i-s ............."

"Hold on mum! Lemme call the doctor!" Sabrina stopped her as the patient monitor beeped crazily.

Immediately two doctors entered and asked her to get out.. She watched them through the window opening as they injected her and tried to administer CPR  before they shuttered the louvers.

After like fifteen minutes, the doctor came out, " I'm sorry we tired all we could but we lost her!" these words cut through her, she felt a very sharp pain in her chest as tears streamed down her cheeks. She went numb and passed out.......
