'I'll go and meet her. You stay here.' Lyder stepped out of the bushes and walked up to the girl, who was taller than he was. A third year with the badge of a dorm A student.

'You're different than the others,' she said, 'you're the first one to meet me head on. Are you just giving yourself up to me? I'm Lissa, but the people in my year level call me Lissa the Relentless.'

'I'm Lyder. Let's go.' Lissa the Relentless, he thought, what a scary name

'Duel!' they said together.

'I'm taking first turn,' Lyder said. 'I play the spell card Sword/Sorcery Spell Stone. When played, this card goes straight to my graveyard. Now I summon Sword/Sorcery Royal Knights in attack position. When summoned, I can banish a spell card in my graveyard to summon two more Sword/Sorcery Royal Knights from my deck. If Sword/Sorcery Spell Stone is banished, I can add one more from my deck to my graveyard. Furthermore, for each Sword/Sorcery Royal Knight on the field besides itself, they gain one attack and one life. Meaning that each one has three attack and three life. I set a card and end my turn.'

'Draw,' Lissa said. She took no time in thinking of her move. 'I play the spell card Calling of Decay. This card lets me add Smouldering Flesh and Bones from my deck to my hand. I now play that same card, a permanent spell. With this card, once per turn, I can summon the horde monster Festering Rat from my deck to anywhere on my field. I summon it in defence mode in my monster zone.

'And now I sacrifice my Festering Rat to summon the rank two Mother Leech. When a Festering Rat should be sent to the graveyard, I can choose to put it in my spell and rune zone. While in my spell and rune zone, it is not treated as a monster or a spell or a rune. Battle, Mother Leech, attack his Royal Knight.'

'But it only has one attack and one life,' Lyder said.

The Mother Leech sank its teeth into the knight, who hacked at it. Each of its swings sunk into The Mother leech's skin and bounced off. The Festering Rat from Lissa's spell and trap zone ran up and joined in the battle, tearing out the knight's skin until he was bare bone, crumbling to the floor. While the Mother Leech returned to his monster zone, the Festering Rat remained. Lissa grunted, her life dropping to twenty-eight.

'When my Mother Leech attacks, it can send any amount of Festering Rats from the field to deal three additional damage. What's more is that my Mother Leech cannot be killed by battle. Also, don't think that Festering Rat will be leaving your field anytime soon. He's just going to stay there and occupy some space for you. I set a card and end my turn.'

'Draw,' Lyder said. He already began to feel uncertain. He struggled when duelling against people who used low attack monsters and underhand tactics like Jones. 'I play Sword/Sorcery Conference of the Round Table from my hand. Depending on how many Sword/Sorcery monsters there are on the field, I can use the corresponding effect. Since there are two Sword/Sorcery monsters on my field, I can add one Sword/Sorcery monster and one Sword/Sorcery spell card to my hand. Also, I can banish a monster from my graveyard to gain one additional summon this turn.'

He reached for his graveyard but found no monsters. 'What.'

'Your Royal Knight never entered your graveyard, you know. He's still rotting on your field.' Lissa smirked.

Lyder frowned.

'Right. That sucks. I add Sword/Sorcery Camelot and Sword/Sorcery Arthur to my hand. By sacrificing one of my Royal Knights, I can summon Arthur in attack mode. Next, I play the field spell Sword/Sorcery Camelot and activate its first effect, which lets me put the bottom card of my deck to my graveyard. And it's a rune card.' Lyder stopped. 'Oh, I made a mistake.'
