I sat in the office waiting for Hoseok. He had to go to a meeting with Bang at headquarters. I sighed, laying back in the chair and my legs on the desk. I messed with my knife. I heard a knock on the door and I looked up.
Hoseok walked in.
"Hey." I spoke.
"Hi." He says. He sighs and comes next to me. I looked up at him, and he hands me a file. "Have you been in here long?"
"No," I answered, taking the file from his hand. I put my legs back on the ground. "I came in here thirty minutes ago. Got bored walking around the house."
Hoseok chuckles. "Didn't want to play video games with V and Kookie?"
"Not today." I laughed. I looked down at the file, and frowned. "This is today?" I asked as I looked back up at him.
Hoseok had a blank face, but nods. "We gotta try. I'll wait outside for you."
I gulped nervously. "Okay."
Hoseok crouches down in front of me. "Hey... It's okay... As long as you try, that's all that matters." I nod to him. "Why don't you go get ready? I'll meet you out at the car in twenty."
I nod to him again, and then get up. I go into my room and sighed. I leaned against my dresser and tried to calm myself.
I can do this... You can do this, Nicole.
After I got dressed and put my hat and glasses on, I went outside to meet Hoseok in the car. I got into the passenger's seat. Hoseok looks at me, "You okay?"
"I'm fine." I answered. "Just... nervous."
Hoseok begins to drive. "You know..." I turned my head to look at him. "Bang says that he's really proud of us. He said that he may actually give us another break."
I chuckled. "Yeah right. As if we would actually get a break. He always gives us another stack of people to kill." I rolled my eyes. "Plus... with how the cops are suddenly getting a lead on us... I don't even see how we would be able to have a break."
Hoseok sighs. "Well, hopefully after we are on the down low for a while they'll lose track of us."
"I'm surprised that he wants us to keep going." I laid my head back on the seat.
"Really?" Hoseok laughs. "I'm not surprised at all. When has he ever canceled anything?"
"Yeah, that's true, but the cops were never on us."
"That's true. Maybe he just thinks that because we are the top team we won't get caught." Hoseok says.
I laugh, "That actually may be the reason."
About an hour later, we arrived in front of Jinyoung's house. The lights inside the house were off. My chest felt heavy seeing his house again after so many years. "You ready?" Hoseok's voice brought me out of my thoughts.
"I think? I'm as ready as I can be..." I spoke softly. Hoseok puts his hand on me. I look at him and nod. "I'll be back." I told him and got out of the car. I sneaked over to the house. I ran over to the backyard. "If I remember correctly..." I walked over to the window that leads into the downstairs bathroom. I pushed up on the window and it opened. I smiled. "It's still broken..." I jumped through and quietly walked through. I quietly walked upstairs to get to Jinyoung's room. While walking, I noticed the pictures around the house. I came to a stop when I came across a certain photo.
A photo of us. We were smiling brightly that day.
There was a photo next to it of Jinyoung, his friends, and me. It was a group picture we took at the park.
I felt my eyes begin to sting as they watered.
I continued on, and got to his room. I slowly opened the door to make sure he was still asleep. I entered and froze seeing his room. There were papers everywhere on the walls, and stacks on his desk.
Papers.
Papers about me.
There were papers of me going missing and him trying to get leads on me.
I turned and glanced at Jinyoung asleep on his bed, tears fell down my face.
I need to leave... I can't... I can't do it...
I quickly and quietly left the room, and went back to the bathroom downstairs. I went though and closed the window and ran back to the car. When Hoseok saw me, he quickly got out of the car and went to me. He pulled me into a tight hug, as I cried onto his chest. "I-I couldn't do it... I couldn't do it..." I sobbed.
"Sh..." Hoseok rubs my back. "We'll skip him for now then. We'll continue on with Jb and come up with another plan for Jinyoung." He says to me. Hoseok helps me into the car, and he gets over to the drivers seat. I tried to calm myself, but I struggled to stop crying. Hoseok held onto my hand as he drove us back to the base.
Once we got back, Hoseok stayed with me the whole time. I got changed, and Hoseok helped me into my bed. I sniffed, trying not to cry again. Hoseok stood up, but I grabbed his hand. "Hobi..." I whimpered. He looks back at me and crouches down. "Please don't leave... Not yet."
Hoseok nods, and I move over to give him room. Hoseok moves into the bed and hugs me tightly. I sniffed and closed my eyes. Hoseok didn't speak, he just stayed there. He knew I didn't want to talk or anything. I just didn't want to be alone.
Soon, I fell asleep.
When morning came, I woke up to an empty bed. Hoseok must have gone back to the office. I got up and walked over to the office. I knocked on the door, and heard a soft, "Come in." I opened the door to see most of the group in there.
"Oh Nicole. Good, you're up. We are going over the what is happening tonight." Hoseok spoke. I walked up to join them. "So, after Jess, Eunie, and Han leave, Nicole will come up and finish up. We'll leave after."
"No cleaning up?" Namjoon asked.
"There's no point now. Once Nicole shoots him, cops will be notified. They know we are out there now. Plus, we'll go into hiding once we finish with Jinyoung, Bang said we'd go on break." Hoseok explained.
I sighed and just nod. Hoseok turns his head to me. "You good? Can you do it?"
"Yeah. I'm fine. Don't worry." I tell him.
