The screaming,
The crying,
The people that
Couldn't stop dying.
The pain,
The love,
The soldiers that
could not give up.
The fight,
The battle,
How every step
Felt like a mile.
The end,
The beginning,
The home that could
never be the same.
The family,
The country,
How those soldiers returned
To a place, they no longer knew.
The friendships,
The relationships,
The people they saved.
Looking back they knew,
IT was worth it all,
To save those that,
Didn't know what war was like,
And in turn, knew nothing at all.
Compared to that soldier finally home
From the thing that changed it all,
Including their soul.
