Collinsport Part 2

Chapter Nine-Maggie Evans and Joe Haskell-Late 1966

Joe Haskell, (Joel Crothers), dates Maggie Evans, (Kathryn Leigh Scott), after splitting with Carolyn Stoddard, (Nancy Barratt); Episode 30 of 'Dark Shadows': Roger Collins, (Louis Edmonds), finds out that his son David Collins, (David Henesy), is responsible for his car accident...and vows to send him away to Windcliff Sanitarium, right in the media section.

Warning: It is rated PG for some supernatural horror violence, adult themes.

Joe Haskell opened the door to the Blue Whale.

His black suit was very clean; his grey tie flapped across his white shirt. His grey socks, and black shoes, stamped on the soft ground.

Two lights illuminated his face.

He smiled when Maggie Evans arrived.

"I thought you'd be with Carolyn", she said.

"No, I don't think I want to know her anymore".

"Why? Did she cheat on you, Joe?", she asked.

"Yes, with Burke Devlin...And others", he answered.

"Others?".

"Yeah, she's messed in the head. Other whole Stoddard/Collins family are messed in the the head. Nothing is normal in Collinwood Manor. I just want to marry a woman who's normal. Hell, I got a twenty-five dollar raise in the ports to show Carolyn off...I was sadly wrong".

"Do you want some apple pie...and coffee?".

"Yes! Are you going out with anyone, Maggie?".

"No. Dad is busy. Pops, as I call him, isn't himself since he went to that house". She wore a blue waitress dress, black stockings, and white shoes on her feet.

"If he needs help, let me know. But I'l never go there again. Look, I'll put some money into the Jukebox...and we can groove on the dancefloor".

"I'd love that, Joe".

And he smiled.

Carolyn arrived shortly thereafter.

She wore a short go-go dress.

She had her hair loose; she had her eyes on Maggie Evans...and her ex, Joe Haskell.

"I suppose that you're betraying me Joe with her". Joe blinked his eyes. The jukebox played 'A Hard Days' Night', by The Beatles.

"You had your chance, Carolyn", Joe said.

"But I loved you...".

"No, there was too much family drama that you created. And with Burke Devlin's involvement...I had had to get away from Collinswood Manor; I had...Anyway, Maggie's apple pie...and coffee...did the trick".

"Well...Burke is...I'm sure I'll find a husband. Burke is too old for me". And she sat down on another seat, and ordered a steak and kidney pie, and coffee.

"Joe, I'm really sorry".

"I tried, Carolyn. I don't want further problems. In short, I'm seeing Maggie".

"Maggie! How about me?", she asked.

"I tried to love you, Carolyn. I know that you're a woman who has a good heart. But you're a Stoddard; you're one of them. I want to love a normal woman".

Carolyn sighed, then left the Blue Whale in tears, after she paid twenty dollars for her meal.
