The small boy slammed the door.

He was, as always did, wondered if his Father, Roger Collins...or Barnanbas Collins...were real Vampires...or monsters.

He wore a black skivvy, black trousers, a black belt, blue socks, and black shoes. He checked his watch on his right hand; he checked his windows.

He shivered from the unnatural cold.

And, as he spent time watching the darkness, he noticed shadows that were now looming longer...until the sounds of howls became closer...and closer...until the werewolves begun scratching at the doors of Collinwood Manor.

I walked towards the foyer.

The telephone rang.

"Hello", I said.

"Victoria, it's Bill Malloy. Can I ask you something?", he asked.

"Yes!", I answered.

"Is Roger Collins angry with David?".

"Yes!".

"I was afraid so. You see, he and Burke Devlin are the fathers. Ever since you've come to Collinwood Manor, he has been treating you like his Mother, Laura Collins. She vanished. The circumstances of her disappearance is...unnatural".

"What do you mean by unnatural?", I was shivering.

"She's a phoenix".

"Oh, don't be silly".

"I'm not silly, girl. She returns like her other lives; she returns after every death. Like the wives off Widow's Hill".

"But I'm the Governess...".

"Yes, and mysterious things have happened before you arrived. I know of The Hammond Foundling Home. I dated Evelyn Hopewell in 1955".

"Oh, I didn't know you were in New York".

"Yes, I was. I was educated there. But the city was too big for me. So I went to Bangor, Maine. Of course, the town of Collinsport, the old name, from the 17th and 18th centuries...has a impact on me...and others".

"And how is Maggie?".

"Maggie Evans is fine. Sam is not fine. Yes, he had business with Burke Devlin. But there's other matters to attend to. Sadly, I need to get more quarters into the telephone. May I call tomorrow?", he asked.

"Yes! I'll be at Collinwood Manor if you...".

"No, how about The Blue Whale?".

"Okay. 6:00 PM. We can have dinner".

"Good. Just let Mrs Elizabeth Collins Stoddard about it".

"Yes, I will. Good bye!".

"Good bye!".

And then she put the telephone back on the cradle...as the door that led to the drawer room...opened by itself.
