Kathir came home with a sulky face and heart... While entering in...he saw Mullai's slippers

He gets reminded of her birthday when he saw her slippers outside her home and assumed she was in...while she was actually not there....

He is in the impression that she is not inside the house...may be she has another pair of slippers he assumed

He held the flowers in his hand as he knew there was no one at home...

And as he entered the hall...he saw Lakshmi Amma in the hall ...sitting in her wheelchair near the pillar..with her head resting on her hand, trying to catch some sleep

He was a little surprised to see her in the middle of the house and was wondering why did they leave her here or did Amma try to come out on her own???

He knew it was not possible for her to move out of her bed without help and he also knows the family wouldn't leave her like this in the center of the hall

He neared her and called out
