Mullai had the drink in her hand and thoughts elsewhere...
K: thakama irukunu soleetu...ipdi kudikama yosichutu irundha epdi...
Kudi...
M: ahnnn..... She then tasted the drink with one more sip.
This time around she could sense and enjoyed the taste of the drink. As it crossed her throat, she felt her fingers turning hot
Kathir held her fingers along with the bottle and held them tight. The chillness of the drink permeated the insides and the warmth of his touch permeated from outside. it was sun and moon together for her.
As she looked at him, he smiled at her and pulled the bottle out of her grip.
Heaved the bottle from her hand and supped it delightfully.
Everything happened in a jiffy that she was left astonished and was agape.
They exchanged the drink with alternate sips and enjoyed the drink like never before.
The love for the other, same as thyself made the drink tastier and their time beautiful, for they knew, one cannot survive without the other and their oneness was etched in eternity.
Accepting each other as-is was the real elixir of the relationship that was conveyed by the drink that was shared. Ways that reassured the former and made them proud.
Long gone were the days where their search for reasons to stick together felt unrealistic, the more they loved, the more they yearned, the more they shared, more they became reflective of the other and were twined together by heart and soul for their lifetime and beyond.
They were left behind as the crowd started moving towards the show as the electricity got restored.
The next segment of the show started after the break and KM didn't move an inch. After a few minutes they heard the claps and turned around to see the show commenced.
They smiled at eachother, he handed over the bottle to the shop keeper and moved towards the show.
They couldn't find a comfortable place to stand like before, but they managed to stand amidst the crowd to glimpse the performance.
The show started off and went on with great performances and the audience were left spell bound. All eyes were glued to the stage.
Mullai held Kathir as it was heavily crowded, but they loved the show as well so watched it despite the discomforts.
While everyone were busy looking at the stage. The overworked generators hosted a firework show to everyone's dismay and went off.
Initially they were all left vexed, over the power loss hindering the show and no one noticed what was coming their way, until the shamiana caught fire and started spreading over.
There was real chaos as people realized fire burning up their sky. They screamed and moved restlessly creating more havoc.
Elders and women felt stranded as the other crowd rushed away from the spot.
The fear of shamiana falling over the head caught up as parts of it started getting torn and hung up, above their head.
After the break, more people creeped in and with the raging fire, everyone turning mad to escape the spot created chaos.
The shop keepers brought out the water they had to help set the fire off, but it didn't seem to fully control the fire that engulfed the old shamiana. It was already in a bad condition over the years of usage.
Kathir and Mullai were perplexed and were caught up in the crowd. As the madness took over, people panicked and drove everyone along to help themselves out of the place.
The ruckus went beyond imagination and kathir and Mullai lost each other in the crowd. They were anxious, nervous and
Frustrated.Mullai was dragged towards the front end and kathir was pushed back in the other end.
He started searching desperately and she tried to help herself from falling off. The mad rush dragged her in one direction.
As the pieces of shamiana fell over people, situation turned catastrophic and it left people with burns. Many were yelling in pain and panic and this gave nightmares to kathir.
He needed to get to Mullai desperately. As much as his heart yearned to move forward, he was constantly pulled behind.
Mullai managed to hold on and tried not to tip off and she was at the fag end of the other side.
The shamiana lost it's tenacity and tore midway and tipped off forward towards the side where Mullai and other people where.
the place started getting smoky, deterring the eyesight and also choked many.
At one point Mullai was about to collapse and the shamiana fell down completely, luckily many escaped from getting trapped and Mullai was pulled over by someone on the other end and was dragged a good distance to a nearby wall to rest.
Kathir tried to get into the pathway to search Mullai, but was luckily pulled back by a few who saw the shamiana collapsing.
Fortunately the shamiana tore into smaller pieces and hence didn't create any causalities.
Mullai slowly gained conscious and pulled herself together to sit straight.
Kathir's agony grew as the shamiana fell and as soon as the fire settled, he ran around searching her in every possible corner of the lane.
he couldn't find her as she was dragged a little further away from the place into a corner. however kathir was petrified as time went by and he couldn't get a glimpse of her.
The fear of losing her engulfed and his heart and mind raced against his wish. When he lost her in kodaikanal, he searched her desperately, but now his emotions were much higher and he felt fervidly demented.
he tried to be positive, fighting all the odd thoughts that flashed and repeated "Mullaiku onnum ayirukaadhu" multiple times.
When Mullai was back to normal, she realized what had just happened and wanted to find Kathir. She was petrified too looking at the scenes before her. She saw a few with burns and scars and families were searching one another and were consoling the ones that were hurt.
as time went by more people flocked from the other side of the fair and ensured the generators were switched off appropriately and helped people around. Emergency medical kits were brought out and medical help was summoned.
Mullai helped herself up and started looking out for Kathir. She was nervous and her heart beats grew faster, as she saw a few laying around, yet to be found by their family. They were all in pain and wound.
She waged a war with her left and right brain and inadvertently tears conceived when the fear of losing him instigated her further. But there was something in her that kept telling her, he will be alright.
With hopes against the odds, she moved over to find him, scanning every person around, she was sure, he must be searching her as well somewhere nearby.
The fear of losing the one you love the most is ineffable,a single thought would send shivers down the spine, everything would seem blurry and cloudy.
The messenger of overwhelming grief and unspoken words of love, flew down her cheeks.
