He Di wakes up with a splitting headache, hungover from the amount of alcohol he consumed last night. He looks over to the other side of his bed and it's empty. He picks up his phone from the side table and looks at the time... it's 2pm. Shit! He was supposed to go shopping with Jin. She wanted some new top, or new shorts, or something like that. Clearly she is upset at him because she is no longer here. He gets up and groans from all the aches. He really shouldn't drink like that. It's just that... if he can admit it to himself, it's the only way he can stomach hanging out with his girlfriend. He met her a month ago at a party.
He moved back to Hunan two months ago to find accommodation and settle down properly, before completing his final year at Hunan Normal University. It so happens that she is starting her first year at the same university as well. He has lived all over and he has always wanted to come back to Hunan, because truth be told, when he lived here, it was the happiest he has ever been. He goes into the kitchen and sees one of his housemates dishing out a bowl of noodles.

"No it's not that it's...it's just..."
"It's just what?"
"I don't know, I guess I more stressed than I realize. Can I get some of that?" He points to the pot of noodles.
"Go ahead."
He Di dishes out some food and starts wolfing it down, craving the salt. Xi Ze continues
"So do you... do you think that...maybe you are stressed...because...of...maybe your relationship?"
"What do you mean?" He Di says, somewhat defensively.
"Well you two don't really seem to have anything in common."
"She's fun."
"Really? She doesn't have much of a sense of humour."
"She's easy...I mean not complicated...she's easy for me."
"I don't know man. She doesn't seem all that easy. Xi Zi, Kido and I were saying that she's...she's kinda mean."
"What, so my three housemates have been sitting around discussing how mean my girlfriend is?'
"No dude, nothing like that. You just seem unhappy ever since you met her. We have all spent the last two months bonding and we love you man, but don't you wanna hold out for someone you are more compatible with? Someone who makes you happy?"
"No I don't want to!"
"What? Why?" Asks a confused Xi Ze.
He Di takes a deep breath and quietly says,
