Chapter 6 *Nikolai POV*

Two days later…

            I was hoping that the mate bond would be broken by now, but since the elders on the council took forever to arrive in Maine; we had to make arrangements for the ceremony to be held today. There was something in the back of my mind telling me that I shouldn’t go through with this right away but it had to be done I can’t constantly be around someone that mated to someone outside of the mate bond. However, I’m surprised that the council didn’t take Adelaide rightful place as Alpha to a more suitable candidate but knowing the council they gave her a second chance to redeem herself and allowed the mating with the pack slut which made me fucking mad, but I’m over it now.

             I sat on the treetop of my father tree and watched as the birds peacefully flew by wanting nothing but comfort from their own kind. I wish I was accepted three years ago by everyone so this wouldn’t have happen. Two days ago I almost caught my father murder, but somehow she evaded coming face to face with me and I couldn’t understand why; however things have had a drastic change now I can sense when she is near which scares the hell out of me. I stiffened when I smelt a familiar scent of pinecones and mint, I know I’m breaking something that her moon goddess gave us but after everything they have put me through I can’t go back to that life when I have a daughter to think about. I knew that Adelaide wolf had taken over and wanted to talk to me yet I couldn’t wrap my head around Onyx still loving me as a mate especially after they mated with a pack whore three years ago.  I jumped down from the tree top and watched her come over to me, crashing her fury body onto mines, I will always love Onyx even though her human didn’t want me anymore, I wrapped my arms around her neck and felt her icy tears against the nap of my neck.

“I’m sorry you’re losing your mate Onyx but this isn’t working anymore, I can’t force Adelaide to love me when I’m engaged to Laure but I want you to remember that I will always love you Onyx no matter what happens even though we’re breaking the mate bond we still have formed a bond that will last for an eternity.” She looked at me with so much love it broke my heart but I can’t show my weakness I am the Alpha Rejected Assassin and a good one at that I can’t let anyone know that she was my only weakness and I did the only thing I could and walked away from my mate. I heard her howls from a far and to get my mind off of her I needed to hunt. I ran through the forest at lightning speed to get away from my unconscious mind. I sensed a few rouges and vampires heading my way and I took the opportunity to glamour the forest to kill them off one by one. I killed 40 vampires and 25 rouges in the last twenty five minutes and I started to feel better about breaking the mate bond. I walked back to the pack house covered in blood but I stopped in my tracks when I saw elder Johnson. Aww Shit! I’m in trouble now. After a year of training elder Jackson took me on as her own daughter and I was grateful to have a mother figure around but as soon as they sent me back to this hell hole I have ignored elder Jackson for a few day and I know I will have hell to pay.
