Acheri is a ghost or spirit of a little girl who descends the mountain and hilltops during the night to bring sickness to humans, mostly children. They were referred to as "hill fairies." There is ONLY ONE WAY to defend oneself against an Acheri, you have to tie a red ribbon around one's neck. She respects any one who wears the red ribbon. An Acheri brings death also to Elderly people and people who have weak immune systems. If any child falls ill, the spirit has passed by, and the sickness is called Acheri's Shadow.
