Adhene

Mythology: Manx

Adhene are Manx fairies who are also known as Cloan ny moyrn, which means the Children of Pride/Ambition. They were regarded to being fallen angels that were cast from Heaven but too good for Hell. They can be benevolent but mostly mischievous in association with humans, taking wives and children as they wished, and was believed that their powers were not effective over any human with an errand of mercy.

They are the size of a small child when visible. They fish at sea and herd cattle on hills. Manx people knew they would be in for a good harvest or good fishing when they heard the fairies making storage barrels in the caves.
