Friends Forever

Chapter 6

Evan's POV:
It's a lazy Saturday I've spent pretty much the entire day in bed writing an essay. Around 6pm I feel my phone buzzing in my back pocket.

Sam: What are you doing?

Evan: Homework

Sam: I want to see you <3

Evan: Depends on whether or not I get an A on this essay. ;p

Sam: Don't worry about it I always got you. Can I come over?

Evan: You know you can't come here.

Sam: :(

Sam: Wife is going to yoga tomorrow, can I see you then?

Evan: Doesn't it feel wrong?

Sam: No? She's the one who filed for divorce, besides I wouldn't be surprised if she was fucking her yoga instructor anyways.

Evan: Then why are you hiding me from her?

Sam: Why are you hiding me from your parents?

Evan: ........ lol

Evan: What time?

Sam: See you tomorrow at 3.

I set my phone down trying to focus my concentration back on my essay but unfortunately my thoughts are almost immediately interrupted by my phone ringing. It's drew...

"Dude you have to come over right now we're about ready to have play Mario Kart and we have an extra remote for you, it's gunna be hella fun."

I look down at my Mac book contemplating whether or not to finish my essay or go have fun with my friends. Sam did say not to worry about it.... and it is Mario Kart I think to myself.

"I'm on my way" I exclaim jumping out of bed to check myself out in the mirror before leaving.

When exiting the pool house I say bye to Nathan who's laying on the couch watching tv in the dark. He doesn't say much when I leave just a small mumble "bye". He seems to be in a mood so I just ignore it.

I jump in the car my parents gave me, a silver bmw. I felt bad when Nathan didn't get one, his dad said if he wanted a car then he'd have to get a job but Nate never did so he never got one.

After knocking on the door too Alex and Drew's small apartment I'm greeted by Alex's who immediately grabs my hand and pulls me inside.

"What took you so long we've been waiting forever!"

I notice a girl with freckles, short brown hair and large rounds glasses sitting on the couch next to Drew. She's a nerdy girl but still very cute and very polite, in fact the exact opposite Ashley.

Drew calls my name, "Evan! this is my girlfriend Mia"

"it's nice to meet you" she says timidly.

Drew puts his arm around her shoulder to comfort her. "She's a little shy."

"That's okay so am I sometimes" I shoot her a reassuring smile as I take a seat next to drew who passes me a controller. Alex comes in carrying a dozen different kinds of chips, cookies, and other various items of junk food.

We spend the rest of the night playing Mario kart and it doesn't take long before Mia start to open up to me and before I know it we are all bantering like we've known each other for years. After a while I start to realize how late it's getting and decide it's time for me to head home.

Walking through the door to the pool house I immediately see Nathan still laying in the same spot with his head buried in the pillow. I almost just left him alone but something told me I should check up on him:

"Hey Nate, you okay dude?"

He lets out a long groan,

I ask again, "what going on , you wanna talk about it?"

"Nothing I'm fine" he moans out...

"Come on Nate, I've been your friend long enough to know when something is wrong. Spill the beans!"

Nathan lifts his head up from the pillow and looks at me, I notice his eyes are puffy like he's been crying.

I sit down on the bed "talk to me Nate" .

He rolls over on his back and takes a deep breath in before letting out in one long breathe:

"My dad hates me, my mom hates me, my girlfriend hates me, now you hate me; everyone hates me. I don't blame them though even I hate me."

I can't help but to just look at him and frown, "first off I don't hate you, ok?
Second, there's no reason to hate yourself you're literally the smartest, nicest, and most attractive guy I know. Like I don't think you realize how perfect you are. "

He blushes and then flashes me a half smile "thanks".

After I reassure him that everything's gunna be okay, I walk off to my room and before I know it I quickly fall asleep.
