Healing Together

Part 11

It was a few days later when Kirishima was walking to the common area of their dorms at AU with Sero and Kaminari. They had been training a little in the gym together while Bakugo had gone to his room to read. When they reached the common room they all flopped down on the couch. Their backpacks just thrown to the floor. Iida would probably mind that but he wasn't around. Mostly everyone was there tho. Just Bakugo, Iida and Mina weren't there. Everyone else was scattered around the room or in the kitchen preparing dinner already.

"Where is Mina anyway?", Kirishima asked as he didn't see his oldest friend here at UA.

"She meets her mom today off campus", Kaminari told him "she was really happy to see her again. But she should be back in a few minutes I guess".

"Ah Mina's mom really is amazing", Kirishima thought out loud.

"I always forget that you have known her before UA", Sero chuckled "was she as bubbly back in middle school?"

"She absolutely was", Kirishima laughed "and she has never cared about other's opinions".

"Yeah, Mina is great man", Kaminari smiled "but we have a lot of other amazing girls in our class as well".

"That's true", Kirishima spoke up and started monologuing "I mean Uraraka is so cute and nice and her quirk is so amazing. And I am so proud of her for training to become stronger physically. That's so manly. And then there is Tsu and she is so awesome. Have you heard her story about fighting this villain in her internship? And Yaomomo. She is so pretty and so smart and she was so amazing when we went to save Katsuki. We couldn't have done it without her.  Hagakure is so funny and surprising. And Jiro is so cool. She is so laid back and funny and she has so great fashion sense I mean. Damn. All this girls in our class are really bad ass".

The girls had heard him talking and settled around the couch on the floor.

"That's so nice of you Kirishima", Uraraka smiled at him.

"You're really sweet Kirishima-kun", Tsu grinned her froggy smile.

"But the interesting question here is if you like any of the girls", Sero wiggled his brows and Kirishima looked over to Kaminari who knew about him. Kaminari smiled at him softly and nodded. Indicating for him to tell his friends. Silently promising that they would understand and accept him.

"Well um...", Kirishima scratched his back.

"You don't have to answer him", Uraraka spoke up also knowing about Kirishima's secret.

"I know but I want to", Kirishima then smiled a little and turned to Sero "I am not into girls".

"Oh?", Sero raised his brows in surprise but he didn't look angry or disgusted. He couldn't tell Kirishima how he felt though because Mineta started laughing from behind them.

"What is so funny about that?", Kaminari asked the small boy.

"I would have never taken Kirishima to be a fag. I mean he is always talking about how manly everything is and how manly he wants to be and stuff. Who would have thought that this was just a cover for him being a fag?", Mineta spat the word out like the acid that Mina could produce.

"It is not a cover for anything", Kirishima spoke up with a shaking voice "I want to be strong and manly and I can still love men there is nothing wrong with it".

"Yes it is", Mineta said so convinced of his own words that Kirishima found it hard to breathe. It was like someone had boxed him in the ribs. He could only breathe flatly. All his feelings from middle school flooded back into him when Mineta continued.

"It makes you a disgusting fag", the small boy said "and you are not manly at all. Kaminari back me up here man".

"I sure won't, you idiot", Kaminari spat but Kirishima didn't hear him anymore. He couldn't hear anything as the voices of his middle school 'friends' returned into his head. His heart ached and his breath hitched and tears filled his eyes. He just stood up and ran away from them. Out of the room and up the stairs. He knew that was cowardly but he couldn't stand being there any longer. Hearing that word once again. He stormed into his room just as Bakugo went out of his own.

Back in the common area Kaminari was held back from punching Mineta by Sero.

"Why are you siding with that fag, Kaminari?", Mineta asked seriously.

"Who dares to say that word?", Mina asked furiously as she stepped into the room. Just then Iida stepped out of the elevators.

"Kirishima came out to the class and Mineta called him a .... he called him a fag and disgusting and Kirishima ran upstairs. I hope he is okay", Uraraka told her and Mina glared at Mineta "Listen here you little shit. If Kiri is taken right back to middle school because of you then I swear to All Might I am gonna make your life a living hell". 

"I am sure that our class president won't let that happen", Mineta grinned at her triumphantly.

"Well I don't see why not. You behaved very unfriendly to Kirishima-kun's coming out as I heard. He needs support and he deserves it as well. I can not tolerate such uncooperative behaviour between heros, classmates and friends. Your behaviour is unapologetic Mineta and you deserve to be punished. I think I shall get you to Aizaw-sensei".

"I am gonna go look after Kiri now, okay?", Mina turned to Kaminari and Sero who nodded and she went upstairs. The others continued arguing with Mineta and getting him to stop calling Kirishima a fag. Iida tried to call their teacher over the phone but he didn't pick up so he kept an eye on Mineta for as long as it would take for their teacher to be available again and help them with him. It didn't take long tho for the room to get awfully quiet as Bakugo exited the elevator with Kirishima and Mina trailing behind him.
