❅❅❅Taehyung was currently in his cabin, and the orange glow of the fireplace had made his eyes start to droop. Namjoon was away, on cleaning duty at the dining hall, so no sudden crashes shook Taehyung out of his daze. Everything felt so cozy; the oak walls, the rustic wooded furniture, and the hazy air created a rather warm and lazy ambience.
Which was abruptly destroyed when the large doors burst open, and a gust of ice-cold air blasted right into Taehyung's face.
"What the fvck, Namjoon?" Taehyung yelled, pulling his body closer to the couch to gain back some warmth.
"Namjoon?" A voice- that was definitely not Namjoon's- questioned. The owner of the voice, whom Taehyung had yet to see, recoiled when he walked into the living room. "Taehyung?"
And, when Taehyung finally pushed aside his laziness to turn around, he displayed a similar reaction. "Jeongguk?"
The raven haired boy put his hands up apologetically. "Sorry, man, I had a fifty-fifty shot. The six really looked like a nine."
"Okay, I'm sorry, but, uh, Yoongi literally puts a line under the six and the nine."
"Mine didn't have a line!" Jeongguk protested. "It just had a smiley face and a 'good luck finding your cabin, you little sh!t.'" He held out his piece of paper.
Taehyung looked it over, and, indeed, someone had scrawled that message messily next to the cabin number. He laughed. "What does Yoongi have against you?"
"It's not my fault I woke him up three minutes before his alarm clock rang! Who even sets their alarm to five-twenty-three?" Jeongguk ran a frustrated hand through his hair.
"Ah, disrupting his sleep," Taehyung nodded in understanding. "I see where he's coming from."
Jeongguk shot him a playful glare. "Come on! It's just a three minute difference! What right does he have to be mad at me when I gave him three extra minutes to get ready in the morning?"
"Alright, alright. He's clearly in the wrong. Happy?"
A satisfied expression appeared on Jeongguk's face, and he beamed. "Correct answer."
Taehyung found himself smiling as well. He chuckled, before glancing at the window and furrowing his eyebrows in worry. "The snow's not stopping. You should probably get going if you want to get back to your cabin."
Jeongguk's eyes dimmed with. . . disappointment? But nevertheless, he nodded in agreement. "Yeah, you're right. See you tomorrow?" He asked, hopeful.
Taehyung bobbed his head enthusiastically. "Sure. See you!"
Jeongguk grinned and made his way to the door. Giving a quick wave, he placed his hand on the door handle and pulled.
And pulled.
But the door remained stubbornly closed.
"Uh, the door's. . . stuck." Jeongguk tilted his head.
"Need a hand?"
"I think it's really stuck, but you can try."
Taehyung walked up to help and pulled on the door handle, but, true to Jeongguk's words, it wouldn't open. He stepped back, worry etched in his features. "Do you think it's the snow?"
"Yeah, it might be frozen, or maybe there's a buildup outside-"
They were interrupted by the crackle of the loudspeaker. "Attention, all students! As some of you may have noticed, the snow is showing no sign of stopping or slowing down any time soon. Due to our safety regulations, we strongly advise you to stay inside of your cabins for tonight. Thank you."
A strained silence stretched between the two, and, finally, Jeongguk spoke up. "I am really, really sorry, Taehyung, and I swear, I'll beat Yoongi up once we're allowed to go back outside. I know that we don't know each other that well, so you may be uncomfortable-"
"Hey, hey," Taehyung cut him off, "It's okay. It wasn't your fault, and Yoongi couldn't have predicted this." He sucked in a breath and added tentatively, "And, although we don't know each other well, we can start."
Jeongguk allowed himself a small smile. "Yeah. Yeah, I'd like that."
