I realized it was almost time to go pick up Finn for our trip. I got to know him a little better the night before and it wasn't so bad. I got my bags to go load them into my car. I got into the car and started driving to the agency. I parked the car waiting for Finn to show up.
I texted him "Hey Finn I'm here in the parking lot to pick you up. Text me when you're here."
"Hey I'm almost there give me 5 minutes" he texted back. I waited there on my phone waiting for his arrival. I decided to get into the passenger seat so he could drive the first 3 hours. I got a text.
"Hey I'm here are you in the white SUV over there?"
"Yes, I'll open the trunk for you to put your stuff."
I opened the trunk from inside the car so I didn't have to get out.
"Btw you're driving." I texted him
Finn opened the drivers side door and came in.
"Hey Valerie."
"Hey, so we should be there by tomorrow by 6 am. We can stop at a drive in so we can get some rest."
"Yep sounds good." He replied as we left the parking lot.
The night was really nice so I decided to open the sunroof. The stars shined bright as I could feel the wind in my face. We started to talk for a bit and the night went by quick.
We finally made it to the drive-in. It was my turn to drive next after we left.
"So we're going to stay here for two hours for some rest then we keep moving." I said.
"Ok do you wanna go get some snacks from the gas station first over there?" Replied Finn as we got off the car to stretch.
"Sure I guess."
We walked off to the gas station not too far from the drive-in. As we were entering the store Finn asked
"Do you wanna watch the movie for a bit after we get snacks? We can get on top of the car and watch it."
"Sure." I replied.
We got some Doritos, Coke and some other stuff. We went out of the store as we talked. I enjoyed talking to Finn. He understood me and never judged me. We go on top of the car and watched the movie they were showing.
"Hey Finn you're not so bad as I thought" I said.
I thought to myself 'Why did I say that?!'
"Yeah you too Valerie." He replied.
I looked over to him and saw him blushing. I was blushing a bit too. 'Am I really catching feelings for him?!' I thought to myself. 'No we're just friends.'
The movie finished so we decided to go to sleep. We got down from the car to go to sleep. I slept on the passenger side while Finn on the drivers side. We were fast asleep.
I was woken up by my alarm at 3am.
"Hey Finn wake up, wake up I have to go on the drivers side." I felt bad waking him up. He looked so at peace. He reminded of a puppy with his ginger hair 'so innocent.' I thought. I guess the drive wasn't so easy on him. I finally woke him up so I could go on the drivers side. It was still dark out.
We were about 1 hour in the drive and Finn was still dead asleep. He looked like he was having a bad dream. He looked like he was reaching for something. To calm him down I took his hand. He calmed down a bit and I blushed. We was so at peace with his blanket. I held his hand. It was warm unlike my cold hands.
I started to think about what I'm going to have to do to him. It put a sense of dread around me. It started to make me wonder 'Why did my boss want to kill him so badly? He seemed like any other person, so why?' The question had me thinking until we got to San Francisco. The sun started to rise around 5am and Finn was barely waking up. I was still holding his hand and don't want to let go. I tried to let go to save myself from the awkwardness that would occur but to my surprise he Finn didn't want to let go. He held his hand tighter.
I blushed as I looked over at him he was also a light shade of pink.
"M-mornin' Valerie" he said in a groggy voice. I was hoping he wouldn't notice that I was holding his hand.
"Hey Finn umm do you mind letting go of my hand?"
I tried to say in the least awkward manner.
"O-oh yeah sorry about that I get really clingy when I'm tired haha." He said as he scratched the back of his neck.
"So we're almost to the hotel we'll get settled and start thinking about our first kill tonight." I said.
"Ok sounds good."
We had some small talk for about 10 minutes until we got to the hotel.
