River

Kid was passed out with his head on my chest as he slightly drooled. His red hair was messy and I couldn't help but run a hand through it. So soft. Ghost walks back into the room, his blue eyes immediately zeroing on his sleeping roommate.
His hair was wet and he had a towel wrapped around his waist so I took an educated guess he went to shower. A three hour long shower.

"Kid's too innocent for this place" Ghost mutters lowly so he doesn't wake Kid up.

I nod my head, looking down on the boy on my chest with a small smile. "I don't know how long his innocence will last in a place like this."

Ghost growls, the noise surprises me so much I look back over at him. "Fuck whoever tries to take that away from him." He was angrily grabbing boxers from his own chest as he spoke.

I said nothing, not wanting to dwell on the thoughts of someone harming Kid. Instead I gently remove the boy off my chest, ignoring the whine that left his lips. He tries to to pull be back but I quickly dodge his little hands. Laughing softly I stand up and stretch out my aching limbs.

"Keep Kid safe man," I say my voice and expression serious as I look directly into Ghost's eclectic eyes.

"Plan on it," he says just as serious as I was.

I grin and turn around, "until tomorrow." With that I walk out of their room and into the hall. I close the door behind me and freeze a few steps away from it. I gulp down any hesitation or fear I had before walking into my own room. This time it's not pitch black and instead is lit up by moonlight. My eyes go to the top bunk and I see a lump underneath the covers.

I quietly tiptoe to my chest and strip from my clothes, leaving me in my boxers only. I turn around to walk to bed when my eyes spot Ares sitting up and staring me down like a hawk.

I jump back in surprise ready to run, "holy shit!"

I calm down my flight response when Ares doesn't move. I eyed him skeptically, what the hell? Is he pretending to be a doll to creep me out? Cause' it's working.

I cautiously walk towards the bunk bed and once I was close enough I dart into my bed. I climb underneath the covers and pull it up to my shoulders. My body felt stiff and it wasn't because of the stone they call a mattress beneath me. I mean really? At least give us something comfortable! Now I understand why everyone's cranky in here, they kept waking up on the wrong side of the bed because there isn't a good side.

I hear the bed above me squeak as Ares moves to lay down. I let out a low breath and try to relax my muscles. He just wants to sleep.

My eyes go to the uncovered window and I subconsciously smile. The moonlight streamed through the slightly dirty glass and lit up the room almost peacefully. The pale light wasn't enough to prevent sleep so it was perfect.

"What are your thoughts on the moon landing?" I ask aloud without thinking. My eyes widen and I press my hands to my mouth, silently begging for him to be asleep already. It was a far fetched wish but a boy could dream.

"They faked it. Before they publicly aired it they discovered shit on the moon that wasn't meant to be seen." He said, his voice was deeper when there was no background noise behind it.

I didn't know what to say since I hoped for him not to respond. Heck I didn't even think he would if he was awake. So I bite my nails as I think of a response.

"What if there was a colony of space rabbits and they eat at the moon which gives us the phases of the moon. And like we get the full moon by them collectively throwing all of it back up and shaping it into a sphere again."
