The white walls and beige tabletops paired with the slow and monotonous monolog of the teacher slowly soothed San's overactive mind and made his eyelids flutter shut.
Quickly, he shook his head the second he felt his head tilt forwards.
He checked the time on his phone, another 55 minutes and he'd be allowed to go home. Inhaling the stuffy air of the almost empty classroom, he straightened his back again and bent over his neat notes.
To his right sat a blue haired boy with his head tilted back in an unhealthy angle and to his left he saw a sharp nose hiding behind a lit phone screen.
He sighed.
"Guys, we came here to study, not to hang out!", his annoyed voice suddenly filled the quiet room.
Mingi quickly slipped his phone back into his pocket and looked to the front just in time.
The teacher finally looked back from the green board in the front, scanning the room for any misbehaving students. She continued watching them as she slowly crept her way up to the sleeping Yunho.
"You know, Mr. Jeong, your friend is right.", she said loudly, just at the brim of shouting, waking the poor boy up.
"I-, I'm sorry Ms. Smith, I promise to pay attention from now on!"
The teacher clicked her tongue, smiling. "At least you followed my invitation and came to the study group today, everyone else is watching the semi finals."
"Yeah, we aren't really that interested in basketball, Ms. Smith.", Hongjoong stated from the back, also half asleep.
She looked at the red haired boy, giving him another warm smile. "I bet you would like the view from the top ranks, Joong. Legend says one can see every little detail, every muscle moving."
Hongjoong slowly sat up straight, clearing his throat in embarrassment. "I still don't care, it's boring.", he said raising his brows slightly, gazing into the realms of his own bubble of self defense making sure not to make eye contact with anyone in the room.
Yunho's eyes switched between looking at the teacher and his friend who has now sunken back deep into his seat.
"YOU LIKE ONE OF THE PLAYERS, RIGHT? HE LIKES ONE OF THEM, MS. SMITH, AM I RIGHT? AM I-", his loud and excited yelling was cut off by Hongjoong.
"Jeez, I thought Mingi's janitor story gave you enough tea to sip on for the rest of this month."
Yunho smirked sheepishly. "So it is true?", he looked at the teacher.
Ms. Smith just shrugged and walked away winking at Hongjoong with a wide grin. As she sat down, folding her legs over the edge of her desk in the front, she loudly closed her book.
"Dismissed! Now go drool over the boys, Joongie.", she said making a sweeping motion signaling the boys to leave the classroom.
"Wow, I can't believe your aunt is so chill about your bisexual ass.", Mingi said, nudging his small friend, once they had hurried out of the stuffy room into the empty hallway.
Hongjoong raised his brows at him. "Yeah I guess having a lesbian Asian aunt married to a white woman makes her probably a bit more open to stuff like that."
"Well... MY PARENTS want me to only date Asian, preferably Korean, girls.", San's annoyed voice came from the side.
Yunho laughed heartily. "If they'd ever allowed you to."
"True that.", San admitted, sighing. He then turned to the other small one of the bunch, putting on a grin. "Now", he said teasingly dragging his words, "who is it?"
Hongjoong was about to open his mouth when Mingi interfered with his attempt to explain himself. He blocked them from continuing to walk down the hallway with his arm and looked at his red haired friend.
"This is a joke, right? We are not watching those jerks throw around some stupid ball and you are not really crushing on one of those airheads, right?"
Hongjoong yanked his arm away, staring back at him, eyebrows furrowed. "What if I AM serious? Jeez, it's just a crush and besides, I think San is right, they ignore us, they didn't do anything to us. Why do you dislike them so much?"
"Stop it with the 'jeez', Joong, this is not a lighthearted matter. They are all bad, bullies and homophobic anyways. How can you like someone with such a bad attitude?", Mingi answered accusingly.
Yunho and San exchanged helpless looks witnessing their best friends fight each other.
Hongjoong scoffed and pushed the taller out of the way. He rushed past his friend but stopped after a few steps and turned around. "I don't like him, it's just a stupid crush. It's not like he would ever like me back anyway. The whole basketball team consists of toxicly masculine cis hets that would beat me up if they knew I liked one of them. Now excuse me while I watch my bad bully homophobic crush play basketball 'cause I don't care about your opinion.", he said sternly, disappointment creeping its way up to his face and anger boiling up to his head making him drop a single tear out of his watery eyes before he finally stormed off.
"Great.", San said pushing Mingi out of the way slightly to follow his friend into the gymnastics hall.
"Look at him, Sannie, he looks like an anime prince. How can you not crush on a face like that?", Hongjoong said sniffing slightly, head resting on his hands as he watched the player that was sitting on the bench.
"Hyung, I don't-", San said, trying to start a conversation as he sat down next to his friend.
"Don't worry, he won't ever find out. It's true, you know, what Mingi said. They're all just a bunch of assholes.", Hongjoong went on, still not looking at the boy next to him.
San just sat next to him silently, not knowing what to say at the situation that had just happened.
"At least they look good.", Hongjoong laughed slightly, "It's not my fault they are the only good looking guys at our school."
San giggled when his friend finally looked at him with a slight grin on his face.
"Sometimes, I need to satisfy the side that likes boys you know?", he laughed more loudly, "Come on, admit it! They're all so handsome! Even straight guys have to admit that!"
"Okay, okay, maybe they are all at least slightly above average. I mean there's gotta be a reason all the girls crush on them.", San answered letting his gaze slide over the court. Suddenly, a pair of eyes stared back. He squinted his eyes to get a better look of who it was but the eyes were already gone.
