aria didn't respond straight away and for a second, tom worried he's said something wrong, scared her off. they've flirted, definitely, talked about the fact that there's something there, sure, but there's something about admitting that he genuinely likes something ( everything ) about her that was terrifying.
tom sighed, walking out of kitchen and into the backyard where tessa was sitting by the pond, curled up under the sun. she picked her head up as he walked closer, wagging her tail against the grass until he dropped into a criss cross seat and started petting her.
