At lunch
”Hey Bakugou!”
Bakugou slowly turned around to see Kirishima hurrying towards him through the crowd making it’s way to the canteen. He groaned, but stopped to wait for the redhead.
”What now, Shitty hair”, he huffed in annoyance.
”Kami told me you decided to nevertheless join the band! How was it?”
Bakugou glanced at the other. How did he know their schedule? Perhaps Kaminari had told him.
”Dunno. Alright, I guess. Not as big of a disaster than I had expected”, he mumbeled.
”Kami told me it went surprisingly well. And he said that your singing was great. What did you even play? I heard this was Todoroki’s first time playing drums. How did he do?” Kirishima blurted out. Bakugou shook his head.
”One question at time, Weird Hair”, he said, without edge to his tone ”Something basic Coldplay shit. I guess he did fine for a first time. Didn’t mess up. He probably has good coordination abilities or something. And that shithead can tell that to me himself if he wants to.”
”No- I- That’s not- I guess he-” Kirishima stuttered, but then took a deep breath to collect his thoughts ”I think he just… Said it as like a side note. Not for me to tell you I guess.”
Bakugou looked to his side, to surprisingly see Kirishima hiding in his collar. Without him even noticing, his gaze softened slightly at the sight.
”Alright.”
The rest of the way to the canteen was quiet, but not in a bad way. It felt rather natural to both of them.
”Did I ask you what you played? Cause if i did I don’t remember the answer”, the boy asked sheepishly as they sat on their usual table.
”Guitar.”
”Guitar? Doesn’t Kami play guitar? At least he said something like that”
”Yeah. He’s got electric quitar, I’ve got semi-acoustic.”
Kirishima rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
”That’s uhh… Cool!”
”You don’t know the difference, now do you?” Bakugou sighed. The boy in front of him laughed.
”I guess you got me all figured out there, huh?”
”Isn’t a hard task, Weird Hair”, he scoffed ”Semi-acoustic guitar is basically the same as acoustic and you can play it as acoustic, but it can also be connected to a speaker. Electric guitar cannot be played without a speaker… Well I suppose you can but you can’t really hear it since there’s no sound box. With electric guitar you can also change the amount of distortion in it. Like how ’metal’ it sounds, you know what I mean?”
Bakugou had been staring at his food, poking it while explaining, but now he lifted his gaze to the boy in front of him. The sight of him knitting his eyebrows, and tilting his head as he thought of what had been said made Bakugou smile shortly. The idiot was really truing to understand his explanation. Maybe he was actually, genuinely interested?
Then Kirishima’s expression brightened up and Bakugou returned his usual scowl.
”So an acoustic guitar is like a bonfire guitar and electric is the one you’d see in a concert?”
”Well… I guess you could say it like that”, he hummed.
”Hey what’s up”, Kaminari asked as he plopped down to their table with Sero and Ashido.
”Nothing much, Bakugou’s just telling me the difference between acoustic and electric guitars.”
”Oh is he?” Ashido smirked ”Isn’t that a little out of character for him? If it was any of us wouldn’t he would be hitting our heads to the table, don’t you think?”
Bakugou didn’t even have time to process what the girl had said before Kirishima was already explaining something that was absolute nonsense to everyone exept probably Kirishima himself.
”Bro what are you talking about? Plus how do you not know the difference between acoustic and electric guitar? Even I knew it when I was like six”, Kaminari laughed, which resulted in Kirishima blushing furiously and snapping his mouth close before he could say anything any more idiotic.
The teasing may have seemed to be about the guitars, but all four of them new it was about something completely else, with the exeption of Bakugou of course. He had stopped paying attention the second the others had appeared, without a doubt.
