I feel my heart pounding in my chest,
Like a panicked horses kicking to the fence.
My bed has become my nest,
It’s holding my shivering body, so tense.
I once again curl my knees to my chin,
Flooded in tears my eyes give in.
A final kick from the horse,
And my heart flees from all my remorse.
She runs from the thunder and the rain,
She too is broken with pain.
No one is there to hold her tight,
Down on her knees, a heartbreaking cry.
Then morning comes and the sun is shining,
Suddenly there is no use in crying.
Returning to me, the empty shell,
She is telling me to be a rebel.
Once again I’m on my feet,
For now I don’t have to bleed.
“Together forever” she whispers to me,
And I know it’s true, we’ll always be.
