Error and I walked into the portal, back to Underswap. As soon as I stepped through, I was tackle hugged to the ground by Dream.

"Arm!" I yelped. Dream loosened his grip and continued with a gentle hug. Blue joined in.

"Alright, let's check your arm Inkstain," Error said.

"I'll check his arm," Dream said sharply, as he pulled me out of the hug and pushed me onto the couch.

He proceeded to unwrap the bandage, put antibiotics on the wound, then rewrap it.

"There!" Dream said, smiling. "Want me to do your shoulder? Or the one on your cheek?"

"Nope! This is the only one that really hurts," I replied.

Dream nodded. I got up and walked to my room. I closed the door behind me and started sketching Nightmare's gang and the Star Sanses together like a group photo.

When I was happy with the sketch, I dipped a paintbrush in water and paint then started painting.

Stroke by stroke, the painting came together.

Just as I was about to finish I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in," I said, standing up. Dream walked in, closing the door behind him.

"Hey Ink," he said.

"Oh hey! Is breakfast ready?" I asked, walking up to him.

"No, I actually wanted to talk to you about something," Dream said, fiddling with his shirt nervously.

I nodded at him, giving him a 'go on' look. Dream had a bright yellow spread over his face. He inhaled sharply.

"Ink... I-I really like you," Dream said. This got me worried. I decided to assume that he meant it in a friend's way.

"I like you too Dream! You're a really good friend," I said, hiding my dread.

"No... I mean... I like like you. I-I... I love you," Dream said, looking at me in the 'eyes.' My 'eyes' widened.

"D-Dream I d-don't..." I started, but paused, not wanting to hurt Dream.
"Dream I can't like you back..."

"You can't? Why...? Do you like someone else?" Dream said with sadness in his voice and 'eyes.'

"I can't tell you," I said, looking away. "But I don't like anyone else."

"You can't tell me? Please, at least tell me why I'm not good enough," Dream said, his voice cracking as he pushed me into the wall, holding me there. He seemed to tower over me when in reality he was only a couple inches taller.

I was shocked by Dream's behavior, this wasn't how Dream usually acted.

"D-Dream, you don't understand," I tried to reason.

"Then tell me so that I can understand!" Dream yelled. I looked away.

I guess I have to...

"Remember when I told you and Blue that I didn't have a soul...?" I began. Dream nodded and gave me a look, telling me to continue. I let out a shaky breath. "I lied about my emotions, I don't just have them."

"But you do have emotions, I feel them when I'm with you. You were scared when you watched the movie. Those are emotions! Are you lying? Because I assure you that will only make everything worse," Dream said.

"I do have emotions," I hesitated before continuing. "B-but these emotions are just a lie..."

"What are you talking about?" Dream questioned. I pointed at the vials in my sash.

"These are the only reasons I have emotions," I said, tears forming in the corners of my 'eyes.'

"That means you have love though.. right?" Dream asked. I shook my head.

"These feelings are limited," I said. "On top of that they are fake, I wouldn't be giving you real love. One day they might even stop working, then I would become completely empty."

Dream backed up, allowing me to get my back off the wall.

"I'm sorry-," I began but Dream cut me off.

"Don't talk, your words don't matter," he said, making me flinch.

Those words are like the ones from my dream. That's a coincidence right?

"Your words will only make things worse for me right now," he said, as he walked out of my room, slamming the door. As soon as he left, I ran up to the door and locked it.

I backed up and slumped onto the floor, leaning against the back wall of my room. I cried with no signs of stopping anytime soon.

I screamed at myself in my thoughts.

Why!? I just made the prince of positivity, feel negative! What more can I do to ruin everything?!

I cried harder than I already was.

We all sat in the living room, most of us still in our sleeping spots.

We talked for a while, but all of us were caught off guard by the sound of a slamming door, and feet running down the stairs.

Dream ran past us and left the house, tears streaming down his face.

"Oh no! Did my friends argue?!" Blue said from his seat next to Dust. "I MUST GO TO DREAM!"

"No wait..." I said. "I think you should check on Ink, I'll go after Dream."

"I'll go check on Ink with you Blue," Error said.

Dust, Killer, and Horror, sat on the couches, looking confused. Nightmare disappeared, and Blue ran up the stairs, with Error close behind.

I left the house, following the footprints in the snow to find Dream.

I followed the footprints into the forest and stopped when I heard quiet sobbing. I spotted Dream, crying into his knees as he leaned against a tree.

I walked up to him and pulled him into a hug. Frankly, I don't know why.

Dream was surprised by the gesture but hugged back and cried into my shirt.

"Hey Dream, what happened? Did something happen between you and Ink?" I asked cautiously.

"Y-Yes," Dream said, his breath hitching.

"Do you want to talk about it?" I said, softly rubbing the back of his head.

"Well... I confessed to Ink," Dream said.

"He rejected you?" I asked quickly.

"Yeah, he said he couldn't love me b-back because of his no soul problem, and his emotions are... fake," Dream said, sobbing more as the last word of that sentence came out.

I felt a huge wave of pity for the skeleton who felt so fragile in my arms. It felt as if the smallest movement could dust him.

"I thought we could b-be something together," Dream sobbed. "But it was just a dream."
