~:+ 🌒 Nightmare's POV 🌒 +:~

I ignored the sounds of the other skeletons running about excitedly. They had decided it would be a good idea to throw a party and were now planning and decorating.

I took a quick glimpse down at Killer who had been using me as a headrest since his last headache. I gently used my tentacles to move him into a laying position on the couch as I stood up.

I looked around at the house that was starting to look like a circus. Ribbon and balloons lined the room, all of different colors.

I sighed, walking towards the front door, but stopped as I felt a wave of negativity.

This negativity was the kind I could recognize because it belonged to someone I would always have an annoying connection with.

It was Dream.

What now? I thought everything was resolved.

I huffed and walked towards the negativity. I was lead through the living room and up the stairs. At the end of the hallway, I could see Dream holding decorations as he stared at a paint-splattered door.

I'm assuming that's Ink's room.

I trudged towards Dream, begrudgingly tapping his shoulder with a tentacle. He got startled and whirled around to face me.

"O-Oh.. Hey brother," he said, giving me a smile. In response, I gave him a cold glare before softening it slightly.

"I felt your negativity," I sighed. Dream's carefully maintained smile wavered as he averted his eyes.

That negativity was disappeared as Dream hid it with is positive aura. He turned around and pressed a hand against the door he'd been staring at.

"Yeah, this door made me think a bit," Dream said, giving a bittersweet chuckle.

I hummed quietly, blinking when Dream turned back to face me.

"Nightmare do you..." Dream trailed off, looking at his hands. "Never mind, it isn't important."

I narrowed my eye at him, shrugging it off as I heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I directed my eye towards the end of my hallway, and Dream followed my gaze.

Cross sauntered down the hall towards us. When he noticed I was next to Dream he stiffened and stopped.

He stared at us with a questioning look, continuing to walk over.

"Am I interrupting something," Cross asked, standing next to Dream. He scowled a bit at Ink's paint-splattered door.

"You're not interrupting," Dream responded, focusing on Ink's door again.

"Are you alright?" Cross asked, asking what I wanted to ask.

I wasn't going to ask though. Why should I show any form of concern?

~:+ ⭐️ Dream's POV ⭐️ +:~

"I'm alright, no need to worry," I said to Cross, giving him a melancholy smile. Cross didn't look convinced but he didn't ask again.

I grabbed a cardboard cutout of a rainbow and taped it to the front of Ink's door, before walking away, Cross walking next to me. I was obscurely aware of my brother following us.

Cross and I continued decorating. Nightmare didn't leave, he stayed and watched us with boredom.

Cross flinched at something, turning to scowl at seemingly nothing for a moment.

"Is something wrong Cross?" I asked, genuinely confused. Cross looked at me before nodding.

"Yeah, just give me a second, I've got to deal with something," he said, walking away before I could say anything else.

I exhaled softly, continuing to decorate. Nightmare continued to watch, making me feel slightly uncomfortable.

"Hey, brother?" I said. We made eye contact and I gulped before continuing. "Why are you watching me?"

Nightmare shrugged, looking away. I put the decorations onto the floor and moved to stand next to Nightmare who was leaning against a nearby wall.

There was an awkward silence for a moment before Nightmare sighed.

"Dream I'm not an idiot, I know you're upset," he said quietly. "What's wrong?"

I fiddled with my shirt, looking away. I felt disconcerted but the fact that Nightmare was concerned made me happy.

"It's just Ink," I murmured. "I liked him, and he can't like me back."

Nightmare's tentacles flicked behind him, almost looking nervous.

"Just spend time with Cross and you won't be sad soon," Nightmare said, confusing me. He gave my shoulder one touch with a tentacle as he started walking away.

"Wait Nightmare," Nightmare stopped when I spoke, turning to face me with a raised eyebrow. I continued. "Thanks for worrying about me, I would love to talk more.."

"...I wasn't worried," Nightmare growled, walking away. I laughed at that remark, knowing full well that it was a lie. I smiled after Nightmare until I was shocked by a hand on my shoulder

I whipped around to face whoever it was, and it was Cross who was chuckling at my shock.

Nightmare told me to spend time with Cross. I was already doing that and I'll continue to do it.

"Cross do you wanna grab some cookies from the kitchen with me?" I said, grabbing his hand. Cross's cheeks tinted with a light shade of purple.

"Sure," Cross smiled. I giggled gleefully, dragging him into the kitchen.

When we got there Blue and Dust were playing with flour and it was a mess. The entire kitchen was coated in a thin layer of flour.

"Blue! Dust! What in the stars?!" I exclaimed, both of them froze before standing straight, hiding the bags of flour they were holding behind their backs. They looked like children that had just been caught after breaking something.

"Blue did it," Dust said. Blue scoffed, jumping onto Dust and throwing flour into his face.

I heard Cross laughing behind me. I started laughing as well, grabbing some flour. I tossed a handful at Cross, who fell backwards in surprise.

It was silent for a second before everyone in the room started laughing.

We spent a long time throwing flour at each other. Horror and Lust joined at some point.

Saying that the kitchen was a mess would be an understatement.

"Alright, that's enough guys. We need to clean up and continue decorating," I laughed. Everyone in the room let out disappointed groans.
