*7 years later *

One fine morning found Mrs. Matthews joyfully humming a tune and preparing some pancakes. Soon, a certain, rather disheveled looking 16 year old boy came crashing down the stairs, gracefully landing on his face, looking as if it was his life's mission to disrupt the morning's peace. Right behind him came a certain little 7 year old girl, also dressed in a school uniform like her brother, only looking much neater and actually walking down the stairs.

" 'Morning Mom!" said Sherin, already eyeing the stack of pancakes like James. " 'Sup Mom! Thanks for the pancakes!" said James, generously garnishing his loaded plate with syrup.

"How are you so lanky when you're always stuffing your face?" asked Sherin, topping off her three pancakes with some butter and sliding into the chair opposite to her brother. "The same way you're so chubby despite literally living off crumbs." said James, reaching out to poke at his sister's chubby cheeks with syrup coated fingers. "Hey-"

"Trust me, the skies will fall the day you kids stop bickering!" exclaimed a rather frustrated Mrs. Matthews. "Nice to see everyone getting along so well." chuckled Mr. Matthews, entering the dining room. " 'Mornin' Dad!". "Hey Dad! G'morning". "Good morning kids. I see that you've managed to annoy your mom early in the morning." said Mr. Matthews. "Honey, why don't you try starting your day by listening to these two bickering over the stupidest things?" said Mrs.Matthews, making the kids giggle at their stuttering father.

With all the small talk, bickering and laughing, the family finished breakfast, oblivious to the evil eyes on them. Soon, James and Sherin were rushing to reach school on time, their parent were rushing for work and the house was empty. If only they knew that this day would be their last happy one together. If only they knew that the next day, the 13th of February, was going to become their doomsday.

If only . . . . . .
