Chapter 1 |•| one nice day

Snow's pov.

"Snowwww wake uppp" i felt someone tugging my night gown.

I blinked my eyes open only to close it again as the light from the window blinded me. My eyes opened up adjusting to my surroundings .i looked at the one who's responsible for waking me up.

"Oh? *yawn* goodmorning conny~ did ya need anything??" I said stretching my arms out while rubbing my eyes.

"goodmorning snow! Could you help me with my hair? Don doesn't know how to do it and gilda is busy with the others" she said pouting cutely.

I smiled sweetly at her nodding . I stood up and took the brush to help her with her hair.

"There! Done~ you could go now. Happy birthday connyy~" i said hugging her tightly.

I felt her giggle and hugged me back saying thank you. I patted her head then let her go so that she could go to don.I know she'd like to spend the rest of her time with him. They are pretty close. And since it's sadly her last day here.

I quickly changed my clothes helping the other smaller kids along the way and when everybody's done i strutted to the dining hall with emma carrying phil.

Exchanges of goodmornings were heard along the hall as my siblings gathered to the dining hall.

6:00 am sharp the clock has already stopped making its usual sound a few minutes ago after everyone has already woken up .

And here starts another day at the grace field house for orphans like us. I closed my eyes as i sniffed up the smell of fresh bread placed on the table.

"They're at it again" gilda said giggling.

I turned my head to emma who's chasing the two knuckle heads. I sighed and smiled at them.

"Snow??" I turned my head down to conny who's tugging at my white uniform.

"What is it?" I asked her crouching a bit.

She fiddled with her fingers as she looked at it shyly. I looked at her confused i wonder what she needed?

"She wanted to ask if you could play her the piano before she leaves later" don said patting the kiddos head and smiling widely at me winking.

My eyes widened at the request.

Nobody knew that i played the piano secretly at the supply room. I looked at the kids who stopped running around and instead looked at me with astonishment in their eyes.

"WH-WHAA?!? how'd you know?!" I said panickly at them.

"UWAAA YOU CAN PLAY IT?!" the kids around me said coming closer.

Blood rushed up my face as they all came to me.

"Gwood mweorning normann weyy!" Emma said with one of the kid's hand tugging her mouth.

"Good morning emma.. snow what's the commotion about?" Norman said coming in with the food.

"Goodmweorning emma ... snow" ray said pausing before saying my name.

"Goodmorningg and its nothing norman!" I said catching up to norman to help him with the food... and to mainly get out of that situation.

I saw mama hugging emma and laughing with them.Ahh the usual morning with the kids and mama. It has always been like this ..

"Mama!! Snow can play the pianooo~" i heard phil said tugging mama's dress.

I shockingly looked at them with a tomato of a face.

"P-PHIL?!" I said looking at them.

"You can?" Norman said shockingly at me

"I-I dont k-know what they're talking about..." i said as I fiddled with the spoons im holding.

"What's the matter tomato face?" I heard ray mocking me from the other side of the table.

"Nothing ..porcupine head!" I said throwing the mocking back.

"Sugar head!" He said back pointing at my white hair.

"Hmp! Idiot face!" I said back.

It may sound pretty silly but we cant mock each other with too much harsh words since mama and the younger kids are around.

I continued placing the plates ignoring him so that i could have a peaceful morning. Our mornings are usually like this for the both of us .

"Hey snow!" He called me from the other end of the table.

"What?!" I shouted stubbornly .

I readied myself for his mockings .
What should i call him next? Pineapple head? Rock face? I cant say anything too harsh since mama might hear us ughhh.

"You're very prettyy!!" He shouted.

"E-eh?!" I looked at him with widen eyes what the?! I didn't see that coming!? I felt my blood rushing to my face and my heartbeat getting faster.

"Ahh?! Snow's blushhhingg!!" I heard one of the kids yelled.

Oh come on!! I looked at ray harshly with my face still red just to see him with a victory face.

"Sit down children!" Everybody sat down as mama rang her bell and everyone thanked for the food alongside mama. There are a total of 39 of us siblings here.

I sat alongside emma ray and norman as usual. I glared at ray while he didn't give a damn and started eating.

Im the oldest kid around as for now. Well i mean im eleven like emma and the other two but my birthday is only ten days away! While ray is in two months time.. looks like i wont be able to sing him a happy birthday this year huh?

"Your birthday is closing up snow!" Emma said as if she suddenly remembered. She then pulled up her sad face hugging me close while we walked to the fields.

"Yeah.." i said smiling sadly. You see the moment i turned 12 is the moment i need to leave this house. And .. i dont wanna.

I wonder if there's already someone to adopt me.. and if this identification number tattoo on my neck would be removed there? Would i be wearing different clothes? And not just this white uniforms? How about food? Will it still be as satisfying as the foods here?

The daily exams are already done and as per usual the four of us had perfect scores . Don challenged norman to a play of tag. *sigh* that stubborn knucklehead -.-

Im only walking with them there but im not joining them today since id like to practice a piano piece for later . I wouldn't wanna embarrass myself infront of everyone later tonight .

"Come on snow the game is almost starting!" Emma said tugging me excitedly.

I smiled at her.

"Actually im going to the library.. i wanted to finish the book im reading " i told her.

She frowned a bit before smiling and nodding her head before running to the others.

I headed inside and sneak into the supply room where the piano is placed. I accidentally found it when i was 6 . We were playing hide and seek. I thought it was only a furniture covered with a white blanket. I planned on hiding under the blanket but when i tugged it away i was faced with a piano.

I sneaked inside but to my surprise.. it was gone.

I was confused.. what?
