Chapter 1: The Job

Narrator's POV:

Natsu and Lucy are currently getting ready ready to go on a job, except without Happy. How come they weren't taking Happy, you ask?

Well, you see, Happy had caught a cold from their last job, which took place at Mount Hakabe. Naturally, it was too cold for him, so the next day he caught a cold.

Wendy had already cast a heal spell on him, but he won't get better until the next day. Lucy's rent was also due the next day, you see.

So she and Natsu decided to take on a job worth about 400,000 jewel.

Lucy's POV:

"Are you ready yet, Lucy?" Natsu groaned. "You locked yourself in the bathroom almost half an hour ago."

I sigh in annoyance and step out of the bathroom in my usual attire, except a slightly shorter skirt.

He takes notice to this, as he looks down at my skirt and blushes. "L-Lucy, don't you think that skirt is a bit too short?"

I blush and yell, "Well why are you looking at my legs to begin with?! And why does it matter?! It's not like we're dating!"

He looked taken aback and slightly hurt before answering. "I know we're not dating! And I wasn't looking at your legs!" He huffs. "Let's just go,"

I smirk knowing I won the argument. "Okay~!"

Natsu's POV:

"A-Are we there yet?" I asked on the verge of throwing up my last meal.

"Actually, yeah! We're finally here!" She shouted as the carriage stops. I get up from my seat and tried standing up, but due to my nausea and dizziness, I fell on top of Lucy.

She yelled out in pain. "O-Ow! N-Natsu, what are you doing?!" She yelps.

"Oh, sorry Lucy. I got really dizzy and fell and I.." I looked down at her and blushed. I stood up and brushed myself off. "Let's go," I grumbled.

Narrator's POV:

Natsu and Lucy get off the carriage at the desired destination, the ruins Duke Everlue's mansion. Apparently, a bunch of thieves made it their secret base.

The job was for Natsu and Lucy to defeat them and their source of power, as well as turn in the thieves to the magic council, their crimes being "too numbered and despicable."

Natsu's POV:

"So.. where's the entrance?" I asked looking around. Lucy sighed. "Obviously it's hidden. It's not very villain-like to have your secret base out in the open."

I blush and look away. "Let's go look for it then." I replied quietly.

What is this feeling? Why am I feeling so nervous whenever I'm around Lucy? We're just friends,
...right?

"Natsu, over here!" I get pulled out of my thoughts by hearing Lucy's voice. I look over and see a large crack in the already slightly cracked stone floor.

"There's a weird smell coming from that crack. What if I bust it open and we take a look?" I say and my hand catches fire.

Lucy nods and stands back.

"Dazzling Blaze of the Fire Dragon!" I yell and blow up a larger area of the ruins than I was hoping to.

Lucy laughs nervously and looks in. "Look! The hole goes deeper!" I look in as well and see a dim light.

"Then let's go Lucy!" I jump in the hole, grabbing Lucy by the hand and taking her with me.

"N-Natsu! My skirt!" I look up and am blessed with the holy sight of what's under Lucy's skirt. I blush and land face first onto the solid rock floor before getting Lucy-kicked in the back of the head.

"Hmph!" She crosses her arms over her chest. "Lets go, Natsu."

She stretches out her hand for me to get up, to which I gladly accept. I smile and notice the slight blush creeping up her cheeks before she turns on her heels and starts walking in the direction of the light.

Natsu's POV:

We reach two big, heavy, wooden doors and two statues on either side of the door. This place smells pretty suspicious. Lucy gasps quietly before reaching to grab the handle.

"Lucy, watch out!" I yell and lunge at her to push her out of the way. As I suspected, a barrage of magic bullets showered the spot Lucy was once standing.

"U-Um.. Natsu?" Lucy squeaked. I looked over at her and realized the position we were in. I basically pinned her down on accident and was between her legs.

A blush crept over my face. "S-Sorry, Lucy." I looked at her eyes and stared, before getting up slowly. "It's fine.." she whispered.

Lucy's POV:

Woah. What just happened?! My crush just pinned me down trying to protect me. Even if it was an accident, that still really excited me, if you know what I mean.

It was so hard to contain my blush, and then when he blushed at me, KYAHH!!
Okay, this is starting to sound really cringey and cliche.

Natsu soon kicked down the doors with ease, and we crept in slowly, carefully observing our surroundings.

A whole bunch of bad guys suddenly surrounded and easily outnumbered us.

"Kyeheheh, looky looky what we have here." Grumbled a man slightly taller than the rest, assuming he was the leader. "A couple of fairy flies."

His goons laughed and cackled around us, but Natsu blushes.

"A-A couple?!" He yells out.

I think he misinterpreted what he meant by couple.

The leader looked at him weird before ordering his goons to attack.

A bunch jumped up at us, before Natsu pushes me back and yells, "Roar of the Fire Dragon!"

Most of the guy's lackeys were defeated in this single blow. I take out my whip, Fleuve d'étoiles, before leaping into action.

In one swift movement, I wrap it around the whole bunch and pull it tight, before dragging it slowly towards the entrance of the cave.

"Good work, Lucy!" He yells out to me and puts up a hand for a high five. I gladly return it and before I knew it, their little guild was arrested.

"Well that was quick!" I giggled and folded my arms over my chest. "Let's go get my rent money!"
