So..who or what are BTS?

Let's start with a few basic facts first:

BTS
also known as Bangtan Sonyeondan
방탄소년단 (which translates to "Buletproof boyscouts"), Bangtangboys or just Bangtan is a south korean boyband consisting of 7 members under BigHit Entertainment.

Each member was sellected through nationwide auditions by BigHit and were originally planned to become a Hip-Hop group. BigHit's idea revolved around 'Rap Monster' (RM) the first member to join and now the leader of the group. When they saw him they immediately had the idea to create a Hip-Hop group based on him.
After three years of training the group debuted in 2013 with their EP album
"2 Cool 4 Skool" and the title track
"No More Dream".

Their fanclub is called A.R.M.Y which stands for 'Adorable Representative M.C for Youth' and was chosen through fan votings. It's supposed to represent that their fans will always stand behind them and support them no matter what. They might be bulletproof but Army will still do everything to protect them just like BTS would do the same. They love their fans with all their heart and it shows. Unlike other kpop groups BTS does not have their own official colors. Some people say that their unofficial colors are grey/silver and black because of their lightstick (which is called 'Army bomb').

Other people say that their unofficial color is purple because of Taehyung's made up phrase "I purple you"

Other people say that their unofficial color is purple because of Taehyung's made up phrase "I purple you". The meaning behind that is similar to 'I love you' but it says even more. Taehyung explained that purple is the last color of the rainbow and therefore means that he will love and trust their fans until the end. ARMY is one of the strongest fanclubs in kpop history and BTS wants to repay them for all the love they're receiving with their music and performances. Taehyung said that their fans already do enough for them and that it's now their time to hold their hands and walk them up the stairs.
BTS' fanbase is huge. They're the biggest and curretly highest-paid boy band in the world and literally can't go anywhere without being recognized. It's definitely safe to say that BTS completely changed the kpop industry with their international success because they are the reason why kpop has become a worldwide known phenomenon. There are many other groups who also had (or still have) the potential to become as big internationally but the problem is often the lack of promotion. When BigHit started their promotion in the US they were already off with a great start and had already build up a big fanbase in South Korea. But when the company initially started focusing on pushing BTS into the international market they didn't neccesarily wait for them to become famous in Korea first. Another thing that other groups might not have is the amount of experience BTS has gained over the years. They've been in the business longer than most groups and basically grew up in front of their fan's eyes. This allows their fans to have a deeper connection to their music as well as with the members in general. Since they've shared such big stages of their lifes with their fans it often leads them to believe that they know the members personally.
*Here just a small reminder that we can only know what people tell us. I do believe that -even though most of their performances are staged and episodes or interviews are edited and scripted-
a lot of their personality shines through. But we still don't know what they're like off camera. And that is absolutely nothing of our concerns because they deserve their privacy just like everyone else does:)*

There are many ways to meassure success. And let's never forget that fame does not equal talent but there are so so many things that make BTS special and unique. For once it's their meaningful songs and lyrics which follow beautiful concepts such as getting to know yourself, being true to yourself and starting to love yourself. They also talk about the struggles of being an idol, common problems in general and how to find the right path again and be thankful for the small things in life. Another thing that makes BTS special are the chemistry within the group.
They all have a very strong and individual personality which make them so unique as a group. Their personalities fit extremely well together and you can tell that they're all very close in real life. I know that idol groups are supposed to get along but just imagine how hard it must be getting mixed together with complete different personalities and and having to live and be together almost 24/7. I feel like BTS just naturally gets along and you can tell how comfortable they are around each other just by the way they act around one another. Surely they aren't the only group with a close relationship because I think it's also natural to develop some sort of connection to the people you're experiencing something that special with. But BTS is one of the few Kpop groups I know which really seem to see each other as a family on and off camera. (They even decided to live together for way longer than they had to.) But this is just my own opinion and I'm sure there are other groups with a similar bond or relationship.

Okay but enough of those basic facts now..

Soo who are:
