"They are so cruel! So very cruel. I have been an elite so many times and she just keeps assigning me new jobs! Am I not good enough?" I shouted to no one in particular, as I exited Her Majesty's office. "No, you're just too good." Surprised, I turned around to see an elite member. He had brown hair and wore a lime green uniform, as all male elites do.
"Hey, Venus. Her Majesty has told me to bring you your new assignment." He extends his hand that held a folder containing my job. I groaned internally, this is so boring! As I reached out for it, I could feel a small spark go off, though I just shook it off as nothing. "It must be very hard for you," I looked at him with slight confusion. "To be pushed to another job and forced to kill another set of people." He said, with a sadistic smile plastered across his face. "Hey, Max! Come here, now!" Her Majesty called. He smirked at me and entered the office that I was previously in.
Before he fully walked inside the office, he looked at me. "Wait for me, would you?" Then he closed the door. I squinted at the door in confusion and disgust.
As I waited for him, Lucy Charson, the most prissy and chaotic girl here, walked up to me. She had her hair in a bun and her pale skin contrasted with her dark blue uniform. I stared at her like she was crazy—which she is. "What? Don't look at me like that!" She said, her annoying voice flooding my ears. I rolled my eyes. "Do you want something?" I questioned. She smiled, "We're friends, aren't we? I just wanted to hang out." So she thought that we were friends.I sighed. "I guess we can train later...but I'm waiting for someone, right now." She giggled, then hugged me. "See you later!" I groaned. Why can't this annoying girl just leave me be? I heard the door open behind me and felt a hand place itself on my shoulder. "You really did wait for me. Wanna hang out, later?" It was Max. I gave a slight scowl. "No." Then I walked away.
~~~~~
I walked to the lunch building, half expecting Lucy to be there. As I was purchasing my food, someone jumped on my back. I turned my head slightly, "Oh. Hey, Lucy. Wanna train after lunch?" I asked, trying to be nice. Lucy let go of me and nodded. She purchased her lunch and followed me to an empty lunch table."Do you wanna meet my friends? I know you've been an elite but you've never really had friends...and now you're one of us, again, so you need new friends; you can meet mine." She said to me. I was hesitant at first but eventually, I agreed. "Good! Because they're already on their way." She exclaimed. "Lucy!" Someone shouted from behind me. Lucy stood up and waved, "Come sit with me and Venus!"
I sighed and looked down, awkwardly. Three other people came over here, they looked similar to each other. "So you're the girl that Lucy was talking about." One of them said to me. He had dark brown hair and just wore his light blue uniform, no accessories. "Let me introduce myself...and my siblings, I guess. I'm Asher! This is Ashton-" He pointed towards a boy who looked similar to him. Although, he had lighter brown hair, hazel eyes—instead of green ones—and he wore a black shirt with long sleeves underneath his light blue uniform."-And this is Ashlie!" He concluded, pointing to a girl. She had light brown hair and brown eyes, with a gray sweater over her dark blue uniform. She gave me a slight smile. I could feel a spark go off, this is just like before. "I've heard a lot of things about you." She said. "Good things, I hope." I replied, which she nodded to. Everybody sat down. This is what having true friends feels like. I was so happy and it brought a visible smile to my face.
"Venus." A voice said behind me. I turned around, meeting the eyes of Max. I saw that he had someone behind him. Lucy rushed to the person behind Max. "Clint! I thought you said you couldn't see me anymore?" She asked the boy named Clint. "That's when I was an Elite, Her Majesty kicked me off." Lucy frowned, then she smiled and kissed him.Max and Clint settled down at our table, joining our random conversations. I could feel Max's gaze on me the entire time, though, I was too focused on Ashlie. I took a look around our table, Lucy and Clint were flirting, Ashlie and her siblings were yelling over some type of anime, and Max and I were sitting in silence.
I turned to Max, he quickly removed his eyes from me. "Wanna come with me to buy some snacks for training?" I asked him. He looked at me then nodded. "Sure, why not?" I smiled at him.
~~~~~
Max and I started picking out certain snacks that would enhance our fighting ability since we would have a few deathmatches tonight. We got spicy chips, sodas, salty chips, waters, juices, and granola bars. Each of these things had a part to play to help activate our powerups.Spicy chips would be for rage, sodas would be confidence or cruelty, salty chips would be jealousy, water would be for sorrow, juices would be for happiness, and granola bars would be to give us strength. All of us either had one or more of these powerups.
Max's brown eyes glanced at me. I looked over at him. "If you don't mind me asking, what's your powerup?" He asked. I let out an uncertain sigh. Should I tell him or not? I concluded that I would tell him but lie that I had more than one.
Why would I do that? Because having only one powerup means you have abilities that others don't. "I operate on rage and...uhm...envy." It wasn't an exact lie. Envy is the lie, I operate solely on rage and I can control fire. That's my ability."That's cool. I only operate on envy. I can control the air around me. I can keep people from breathing. Heh, I almost suffocated my brother, Clint, once." I looked at Max, shocked.

"Good. They're all getting along." A mysterious figure says. "Yes! This is all going according to your plan, Her Majesty!" Another figure says.
