Number Five was horrified to find his family beneath the rubble of their fallen home, hardly recognizing them if not for the defining features of each. Having jumped forwards in time too far, he finds himself standing in an apocalyptic future that has no way of being saved due to the fact that everyone was gone.
He walks forwards, carefully stepping on pieces of rubble that wouldn't harm anyone underneath. Although he feared that they were too far fine to feel any type of pain he could deliver. He scurried over to a young woman, once neatly combed blonde hair now messily astray in grime across the fragile woman's face.
Number Five felt his eyes burning with unshed tears as he leaned over her, his fists opening and closing as he peered down at her closed eye's. Her lips slightly parted, from what he knew was her last breath, her body stuck beneath the solid concrete that had crushed her lower body. "Josie," he breathed mournfully, placing a hand over her shoulder, knowing that he'd only be wasting his breath trying to wake her.
Glancing next to her, he could see her hand was held tightly by his brother, Number One, Luther, whom was also dead a few feet from her. She must've died before he did, his large hand enveloped in her smaller one, her fingers loose while his still held tight even in death. Five couldn't imagine how devastated he must've been, unable to move as she had probably died right in front of him. Number Five couldn't bare to think of what had happened while he was gone, what had led to this disaster...
But, he knew one thing, he had to get back to the present to stop whatever was coming...
Number Five held a newspaper in hand, now, checking the date and his expression hardened. He needed to find a way to get back home, stop the apocalypse and rejoin his family....
