Eventually the water had gotten too cold and I found myself sitting on the sand with a towel wrapped around my shoulders, courtesy to Embry.

He was in the water still, dominating at a splash war with Jared and Paul, while Sam sat beside me watching. It was silent with Sam, but it was comfortable. I respect the older guy for being able to handle a bunch of teenage boys, and I felt my heart start to hurt.

"I..." I started off, struggling to find words that made sense. "I feel like I misjudged you all. Just like every other person in the Rez."

"It's alright, Alyson. Nobody will hold it against you."

"Come to think of it, those accusations don't even make sense. A cult, of all things?" I spoke out loud, my brows furrowing in thought. "You guys are just a small group that keeps to yourselves. And I just..."

I sighed and started drawling circles in the sand.

"I don't know where I'm going with this. All I wanted to say is that I'm sorry."

Sam patted my shoulder and smiled lightly.

"Like I said. Nobody will hold it against you."

I nodded and took a glance back out to the water. The sun was starting to set, casting a gold glow against the rocks and water. It was almost heavenly. The boy's yelled and laughed, echoing through the forest.

Embry got the upper hand in his current battle and reached forward, dunking Jared's head under the waves.

I cupped my hands over my mouth and cheered him on.

"Let's go Embry!"

He glanced back and grinned, waving. Paul took this distraction and splashed a huge wave at the boy, pushing him backwards. I winced and laughed, shaking my head.

"Get your stuff ready," Sam stood up dusted off his wet shorts. "You'll want to have your stuff when I say the magic word."

I tugged on my jenes, pulled the sweater over my partly dried top, and slipped on my sandals. I grabbed Embry's shirt and towel and folded them, holding them close to my chest.

"Hey boys! Food is ready at Emily's!"

It took only 3 seconds for them to swim to shore, and then it was chaos. The others scattered and looked for their clothes in the sand while Embry came up to me shook his head rapidly.

I laughed and shielded my eyes, holding out the towel for him to take.

He thanked me, drying his chest and back off quickly. Slipping on his shoes, he leaned down and gestured to his back.

"Hop on," he whispered, and I gave him a 'really?' look. "Just trust me."

I sighed wearily and jumped, wrapping my arms around his neck and my legs across his waist.

"Do not drop me." I warned, adjusting his shirt and towel so that they were in between us and wouldn't fall.

"Wouldn't dream of it," he grinned, glancing up at me. I could see the mischief in his eyes and I couldn't help but laugh. "Hold on tight."
