" Your total is 32.65 " I said as I rung up a customer and handed her back her change . It's been a month since I've been staying in the condo and I've remade the whole condo . It's honestly feels like home to me , Kash and I have even been talking about getting it in my name . I've started working at Walmart and I couldn't be happier I'm finally standing on my own two feet . It sometimes get hard juggling school and a job but I'm doing good so far . I was about to get off but I had someone else in line so I had to tend to them before I clocked out . 

" I just got one item " he said and my head snapped up and I felt my whole body tremble with anger .

" Devon " ? I asked more to myself but I knew for a fact it was him because even though he's changed a little he still looked the same . He had grown taller so he was about 6'2 his skin was still that dark complexion that I fell in love with and he still had those white teeth that made my heart swell .

" Jhené " he said and I felt the tears about to fall . I looked around and I left from behind the counter and started walking towards the back so I could clock out .

" Hey Allison I'm clocking out , can you take over for me " I said and she nodded and slid her card . I grabbed my purse and other stuff and walked back out and there he was standing waiting for me .

" What do you want from me " I said as I continued to walk to the exit .

" Listen I didn't even know you moved here , I came down here for a job " he said .

" Whatever I don't even know why I'm talking to you " I said as we made it out to the parking lot and to my car .

" You're not even going to give me a chance to explain myself " He said as I stopped and turned around and leaned on my car door .

" Explain what How you got another girl pregnant while we were together ? Or how you took my virginity and cheated ? Or this is my favorite how you broke me and didn't want to explain why a year ago ? " I said as I held back my tears I wouldn't dare let him see me cry not anymore .

" Listen Jhené , you were always there for me and I fucked that up and for that I'm sorry . You always kept me level headed and I fucked you over . I just want another chance to show you that I've changed please we can even just be friends I just want you back in my life " he said and I looked down at my nails .

" We gotta let the past be the past " he said and I rolled my eyes but he was right . This was still weighing on my heart and I can't believe I'm saying this but I need this closure .

" Fine we can be friends but that's it " I said and he smiled as I gave him my new number . After that I got back in my car and pulled off I just wanted my bed at this point . I kept driving and my mind was now on Devon and how he just came back into my life and made all those old feelings come rushing back . I pushed that to the back of my head as I pulled up to the condo . I got out and unlocked the door and smiled because I was finally at my happy place . I went in my room and put my stuff down and grabbed my pajamas and went to take a shower . After my shower I turned on the tv to a random channel and started watching tv . I heard my phone go off so I picked it up and seen I had a text from an unknown number .

: Aye this Devon ..
me : Alright .
Devon 🥱 : I'm serious about what I told you .
Me : mmmh 🙄 .
Devon 🥱: What I gotta do to prove to you that I'm serious ?
Me : Show me 🤷🏾‍♀️ .

That was the last text I sent before I placed my phone on the bed and I started back watching tv until I received another text .

Kash 🌚 : I'm outside .
