The Sea King

A week had passed since I came to realize that I reincarnated into Ariel. Well, there was not much changes, Granny still visits me. There's still no sight of my father, Triton - the Sea King, and my 6 sisters.

I now can wriggle my tail, as I, of course not used to it since I was a human in my past life. Mermaids exactly are just fictional creatures that seemed to originate in the European part of the Earth.

Well, some claimed that they saw mermaids and there even has videos about it, but not much is quite proven to be the truth. So, people back there are not much versed about mermaids.

Though, there was a film for kids about a mermaid that falls in love with a human and have a happy ending and was worldly known. I, know about it too and well, became curious. So I searched about the original story and was quite horrified, not. It was sad and touching because the 'Ariel' in that story was quite the opposite of the movie.

She, Ariel, has fallen in love with the prince but the latter had someone he loved. Ariel sacrificed her voice, so her tongue was cut by the sea witch to gain the legs she wanted. But whenever her feet landed or when she walks, she will feel excruciating pain, like a knife stabbing at her soles.

She was really unfortunate yet hopeful that she can gain the love of the prince. And in the end, the prince married the one he loves who he thought is the one who saved him.

On the day of the wedding, before the sun sets, her sisters traded their hair with the witch for a knife to kill the prince, so Ariel can regain her tails. But painstakingly, she cannot kill the prince who she loved dearly, so she waited and transformed into a seafoam, in which she was received by ladies that roam around the world as spirits.

Well, isn't it quite good as well? I think it's better than the movie but quite inappropriate for the targeted market of the makers.

Now that I think about it, will I suffer just the same as in the original story? Or maybe the movie one.

I was named Ariel here, but in the original story, there was no name mentioned, the author just called her "the little mermaid".

I think I will have to wait to know what of the two stories I reincarnated into. But for now, I'll need to practice wriggling my tail.

As I was practicing, a sudden voice emerged.

"The Sea King has arrived!" the door opened and revealed a stunning man with long luscious white hair, blue eyes, a gorgeous green tail, and a well-defined body. He was holding a large fork, which I think must be the trident. He graciously approached me as the door closed, leaving us two alone in this room.

He then stared at me and smiled. When I also stared at his eyes, I saw pain, longing, and love. It was evident and piercingly shot at me.

As I was overwhelmed at what I saw, I realized that he was already holding me, gently, like he was carrying something fragile.

"My little mermaid princess, you look just like your mother." he gently smiled and placed a kiss on my forehead.

I then reached my hands and placed it on his cheeks, caressing it.

Dad, don't be sad. It's okay, I'm here. I stared at him thinking that he can understand my words and smiled at him.

He giggled.

"Yeah, really just like your mother." he said as he strokes my hair and puts another kiss on my cheeks.

He then placed me on my cradle and walked out of the room.

I, also tired from practicing, felt that my consciousness was fading and eventually fell asleep.
