7 years had passed since my first birthday.
I and my sisters with Granny are in the library. Granny said that she will tell us something now that Attina is already of age.
"Come now, closer." said Granny.
We moved closer to hear what she'll say and also because we are curious as to what story she'll tell.
"Now that Attina is 15-years-old, I'll tell all of you about the wonders beyond the sea.
Once a mermaid reaches the age of fifteen she will now be able to go beyond the sea. But remember, you cannot go to the land or maybe seen by humans."
"Why is it, Grandma?" said Andrina.
"It is because humans are dangerous. Unlike us merpeople, humans can explore the land, air, and the seas. They are noxious. They fear the unknown and those who do not look like them. They resort to violence and killings."
"Oh my! Then we need to stay as far as we can." said Adela, but Granny smiled.
"Yes, princess. But humans are also like us, they value their people. And they are always happy, having parties with many colorful things. They can explore and see what we cannot. They have freedom." said Granny as she smiled.
She continued, "Once you go beyond the sea, sit on a rock under the moonlight not far from humans, see what you can from far away, and imbued it on your memory. Yes, they have all those things, but aren't we also happy under the sea?"
"Humans have ships that they use for traveling on the sea. It is made of wood that can float above the waters. They also have towns like us, many people gather there and dance or celebrate. They have trees that are greener than the weeds and made up a forest. And the fishes among the trees can sing sweetly that make pleasures on your ears." said Granny as she finishes her stories. The look on her eyes has a hint of happiness.
"Grandma, I'm so excited! Later, when I go above and see the things Grandma told us, I'll tell you all of it." Attina beamed and told us. She looks excited.
"But Grandma, why do we even need to go there? Can't we just stay here and celebrate?" I said.
"No, dear. It's for you to understand the wonders beyond the sea and also the corresponding dangers. To teach you not only by words but for you to experience it. Now, go along. Your sister, Attina still needs to prepare." Granny said as she brought Attina with her and went out of the room.
"Hey, Ariel. Do you not want to go above the sea?" said Adella.
Adella, the third princess is quite bold and daring. She likes adventures and very curious.
"It's not like that, sister." I answered.
"Okaay." Adella said and went out of the room.
I was the only one here and I want to stay longer to think about what I'm going to do.
Hmmm. First, I think I need to stay away from the ship where the prince is at. Second, I'll need to look for something to trade with the sea witch for legs. I want to explore the land. Third, I need to stay away from that annoying brat, Prince Eris.
He's been pestering me these past years. He even went on having me engage with him. But, of course, I don't like him, not even an inch.
Oh yeah, I'll ask for father's permission first before I look for something to exchange with the sea witch.
As I ended my thoughts, I went to my room and prepare to sleep since it's already quite late.
