Chapter# 2: The Meeting

Ever since her arrival 3 days ago Sooyoung couldn't get a chance to talk to her father. As her father is now working on his new book and seems busier than usual. So, all she did was spending her time reading her book or sometimes helping her step-sister out with her project. Sometimes she visited Peniel's mom hair salon to hang-out. Some people think that her family is weird, she is weird like how could you get comfortable with your step-mom? step-siblings? But she only shrugged them off.

That Wednesday night her father suddenly informed her that they will be attending a dinner with one of his old friend.

"Sooyoung-ah don't forget the dinner on Saturday at 7 pm here"
"What dinner?" She blinked, looking at her father curiously.
"Just a casual one honey. We will be meeting my old friend. Mr Yook and his family"
"Mr Yook as in The YS Company Ceo?"
"Yeah, you know he is my best friend since high school" 
She just nodded. 
"His son who lives abroad will also present" His father smiled which gain a frown from Sooyoung. Why would her father even inform her about him?
"That As-" She paused "Ah Sungjae?"
"Yes"
"Will Donggeun oppa also be there?"
"No he won't"
"Why? Isn't Donggeun oppa and sungjae are best friend?" this is getting weird. she thought.
Her father just smiled and not answering her.

Why would I be the one meeting with Sungjae? It's not like I am close with him or something. She just shrugged it off and decided not to think about it at all.

Saturday

Feb 7th, 2020

 Sooyoung spent her day by reading her favourite books on her apartment when she suddenly remembers that she got a dinner tonight with her father. She takes a look at her watch then realized it's already 5 in the afternoon. "Oh crap!" She quickly went to shower herself for the first time today and prepared herself. "It's a casual dinner right?" she mentioned herself before wearing her white V-Neck blouse and a pair of skinny jeans, she left her hair as it is, and just let it fall down her shoulders while she only put a little effort on her make-up. After all, they'll just have dinner at her father's place. She then drives to her father's house, thankfully that the traffic isn't bad. She arrived 30 minutes before dinner and was kind of shocked because everyone is wearing such formal attire. 
"Unnie! you are here!" Her sister yeri welcomed her with a big hug. "What are you wearing unnie?" Yeri suddenly asked her confusedly with how casual Sooyoung is. Sooyoung looked at her sister with the same confused look. "What are you wearing? Father said casual dinner". "Doesn't mean that you should come only with jeans and blouse" Yeri just shook her head and chuckle at her sister's antics. 
Sooyoung and Yeri then walked hand-by-hand to the dining room. Where everything has been settled up prettily. Her father and her step-mother, which is yeri's mom already sitting on their chair. Across them, she could see a couple sitting and chatting with her parents. She looked around noticing that someone is not there and smiled. Good, he is not coming. 

Upon her arrival, her father introduced her to the couple. "Isn't it Sooyoung? You are already this big now" Mr Yook laughed while giving Sooyoung a small hug, His wife too then gave sooyoung a hug and praising about how Sooyoung grew up to be such a pretty lady. "My son said he will be late" Mrs Yook informed. And not long after that, a good-looking tall handsome man in suit appeared. Yook Sungjae. He greets his parents and Sooyoung's parents. Giving his mother a kiss on the cheeks before he takes a seat across Sooyoung's. 
As all of them are now complete the dinner finally served. The food was good as expected. Their parents started chit-chatting after they finished their dinner, now already sitting comfortably on the couch on the living room.

"So the thing is..." Sungjae's mom looking at the kids nervously yet still with her sweetest smile plastered on her face, which only raise Sooyoung's anxiety.
"Ah let me do it. Just to the point" Sooyoung's father said.
"So you both know that the three of us are friends since before" Sooyoung and Sungjae just nodded, while Yeri is there with her mom watching them.
