Archer turned to look at me, his green eyes blazing with fury.
The three sisters looked from Archer to me and their faces lit up with mischievous smiles."So, you're here to rescue your girlfriend, are you? How romantic!!", the white haired girl said, cackling.
Archer glowered at her, keeping his hands outstretched. "Call her what you want, but out of everyone here, I'm the only one who gets to touch her."
He kept his gaze fixed on the three sisters who were grinning with delight."Oh, but she's not your property, is she?", she said, then paused for a moment.
"You can have a share once we make a meal out of her. I'm sure Linea wouldn't refuse a handsome man like you..", she said, her voice seductive. Linea smiled at him, batting her eyelashes; red eyes glowing.I turned away from her, revolted. Viva grunted in response to that, clearly disagreeing with whatever they were saying.
Archer gritted his teeth in anger and charged at them, the metal of his sword glinting in the moonlight. The white haired girl ran towards him, her teeth bared.
The other two sisters charged towards Viva and me.Viva pushed me onto her back in one swift move and took off into the sky, but the sisters followed suit, close behind us. I looked down and saw Archer stabbing the white haired girl in the thigh. She pulled the sword, which was now covered in blood, out of her flesh and bit him in the arm, pulling him towards her.
Archer screamed in pain and looked up at us, catching my glance for just a second, but then looking away.
He raised his hands to the sky, chanting something under his breath. Vines sprouted from the ground, thick and strong, as they wrapped around the wisp. She snapped at them with her teeth, trying to break free.Meanwhile, Viva was trying hard to lose track of the other two sisters who obviously weren't ready to let us go that easily. She dipped in the sky, changing direction rapidly.
The black haired girl flew ahead and stopped right in front of us, hovering in mid-air.Her long hair whipped against her face as she smirked at us. I looked back and saw the silver haired girl, Linea, trailing close behind. She wasn't flying ahead like her sister. She locked eyes with me and I saw an evil glint pass across her eyes.
They plan to attack us from both sides.
I patted Viva on the side, and she looked back at me. "Dive", I said, holding onto her tightly. She snorted and dove downwards at full speed. I held on as tightly as I could, hoping we wouldn't crash. Just when I thought we would, she righted herself and flew upwards with great force.
The wind lashed at my face, making my eyes water.Soon enough, we were flying quite normally again. I heaved a sigh of relief, thinking we'd lost them.
Just then, Viva screeched and writhed, her body shaking in pain. I almost fell off, but managed to hold on. The black haired girl hovered in front of us, her teeth dripping blood.
Viva's blood. Bright red blood gushed out of a hole in Vivas neck, where the wisp had bitten her.The silver haired girl appeared at my side, looking at me cheerily.
"Did you really think that you could escape from me? Well, you're mine now!", she said, and I thought she was going to bite me. Instead, she opened her mouth wide, and sank her teeth into Viva's underbelly. Viva growled in pain and started to fall, taking me with her. The wisps dove downwards after us, their laughter ringing in my ears.
As we fell, Viva looked at me sadly. Her green eyes looked distant and unfocused. I felt weightless for a moment, and not knowing why, I closed my eyes. I held my hands outstretched and said something under my breath. What I'd said sounded foreign even to me, but I kept saying it again and again, hoping it would work. When I opened my eyes, Viva and me were lying on the forest floor, covered in dirt and leaves.
Viva grunted in pain and sat up, but I was surprised to see that she wasn't suffering from any major injuries. She looked at me, perplexed. I looked around us, and that's when I saw it.
We were enclosed in a transparent bubble that had protected us from the fall.
It stretched like elastic when I placed my hand on it. I gasped in shock.Overhead, the two wisp sisters circled the air above us, looking down at us vehemently.
"How dare you create a 'Rios' and keep us away? You will be ours soon, gwerick. Beware...", Linea said, taking one last look at Viva.
"Does this mean we won't get our meal?", the black haired girl wailed, holding onto her sister. Her sister threw her an annoyed look before bursting into flames. The black haired girl did the same a second later.
A Rios? What was that? Had I just created this?
I looked at Viva, who was watching me. She bowed her head in gratitude when she caught my eye and I smiled.
"Hey, there's no need to be grateful. I know you would've done the same for me."
Viva snorted and I was relieved that she was okay. I couldn't imagine losing her. Neither could I afford to lose Archer.
I looked around, searching for him. Getting out of this bubble would be risky, but I had to do it if I was going to find him.He saved me. I owe him my life.
I got up, brushing leaves and mud off my t-shirt.
"Viva, lets go. We've got to find Archer."
I looked at the bubble, trying to figure out how to make it go. I thought of what the goblin had done when Archer had trapped him with those vines.
I snapped my fingers and the bubble disappeared. I smiled in surprise, shocked at my own power.
I turned around to find Viva kneeling on the ground. The cut on her underbelly and neck were bleeding quite a lot. I ran towards her and knelt down beside her. I tore a piece of my t-shirt out and pressed it to her wounds, stroking her head as I did. She nudged my hand away and looked into the distance. I tried again, but she wouldn't let me."I won't leave you here alone, Viva. I can't lose you", I said.
She shook her head and grunted. She pushed me away from her and nodded her head towards the north, her tail beating against the ground.
Finally, I sighed and looked back at her fiercely."I'll come back for you. I promise."
I turned away and walked forward. There was only one thing on my mind right now. Archer.
