Iris seemed friendly enough, but I still had an uncomfortable feeling whenever I was with her, like something bad was going to happen any second now.We were walking along the forest, constantly wary of the ravens flying above us. I held on tightly to Archers hand, grateful to have him with me.
Iris walked along beside us, glancing in our direction every now and then."Iris....if you don't mind me asking, what happened to you?", I asked her, noting her sudden change in demeanour. She tensed and turned to look at me fiercely.
"Sorry, but I do mind. I don't want to talk about it."
Wow. That was rude. I sighed and looked away, wondering what was up with her. She always shut herself off when I asked her something about herself.
"Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to pry."
She shook her head and gave me a small smile.
"No..it's not that. I'm just not a very open person. I prefer to keep some things about myself private. Sorry if I offended you."
I smiled back, but I still felt a little weird around her.
"So, what are you guys doing here? I mean, it's a dangerous place."
She was looking at Archer. He glanced at me for approval and spoke to her when I nodded.
"Well...I'm sure you've heard of Rumelda. We have to get her pendant for this fairy."
Iris laughed. "Who hasn't heard of Rumelda? Wow. That's a huge task to do. You think you're up to it?"
Archer grinned. "We sure hope so. If we're not, then things are bound to be a disaster. I'm sure we'll be fine, though."
She nodded. "You say a fairy asked you to do this? Who was she?"
Archer instantly tensed and clenched his fists. Iris noted this with a confused expression. She looked at me like she was asking me what was wrong with him. I kept my face blank, not wanting to give her the slightest hint about what I was thinking.
"Kassandra."
Iris froze. She literally stopped walking and stood where she was, not saying anything.
Me and Archer stopped too.
"What's wrong? Do you know her?"
She didn't respond to my question. She simply shook her head and started walking again. Archer put a hand out to stop her, but I held him back.
"Don't. I don't this she's going to listen to either of us right now."
He nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, you're probably right. I wonder what's her problem though."
It had definitely seemed like she knew who Kassandra was. I shook my head, watching her as she walked further away from us.
"I dont know. Well just have to hope she's okay."
We walked in silence after that, with me and Archer glancing at her anxiously. She seemed lost in thought.
We kept walking for a long time and I suddenly wondered if I was crazy to have come to this whole different world leaving my sisters behind. I gripped Archers hand tighter and looked at him.
