Shadowhill was home to many families. Families like the Richardsons who built their family on wealth and greed, and were known to be insolent and unpleasant to be around. Shamefully, because they were rich, most people respected them, or at least pretended to. Or the Evergreen family who owned the admired Evergreen Tea Shop. They were loved by the people of Shadowhill due to their kind hearts and magnificent tea. Or rather the Woods family, who wasn't much of a family at all, but played the role of a perfect loving family. A role played all too well. Shadowhill was also home to a very unusual family. A strange family who lived at the very top of a hill in a mansion that looked down at the ordinary town of Shadowhill; isolated and alone. The Porter Mansion was its name. A name that was given by the Porter family. There were exactly six Porters in total.

"78...79...80", Damien said as the palms of his hands covered his eyes and his body pressed up against the wall.

Damien Porter was eighteen years old and the oldest of the five Porter children. Unlike the other four children who had been adopted, Damien was the only birth son of their father Alaric Porter. He was known to exhibit unpleasant behavior and was very stubborn, yet the others looked up to him. At times when he wasn't forced to spend time with his brothers and sisters, he would much rather be spending time in his bedroom, alone.

"98...99...100", Damien said with a sigh. He carelessly began looking for the others.

"Ready or not here I come", he said, pulling the thick window curtains apart, revealing a curly-haired girl with large, round glasses.

"Daphne you're terrible at hiding", Damien said.

"That's not fair, you're supposed to say ready or not here I come before you start looking", Daphne argued. She was upset that Damien had found her so quickly.

Daphne Porter was twelve years old and the youngest of the five. She was very smart and loved science. She spent most of her time executing experiments, especially ones that resulted in explosions. Whenever she would formulate something new, her family were always her test subjects. They never turned out well.

"Well the quicker I find you guys the quicker I can go back to my room", Damien said walking away from the upset little girl. Daphne crossed her arms and frowned at the young man who continued to walk away from her.

Damien continued to walk through the long
hallway. He stopped himself after noticing that one of the bedroom doors were opened. The bedroom belonged to Audrey Porter, the second oldest of the children . The room had a crystal chandelier, like most rooms in the mansion, and pink floral that covered the bed and the walls. Damien looked around the bedroom to find Audrey. He checked under the bed and in the closet, but couldn't find her. As he walked passed the vanity to leave the room, he felt something grab his ankle, causing him to fall to the ground.

"Did I scare you", Audrey said, laughing as she crawled out from under the vanity.

Audrey Porter was seventeen years old. She was very kind and talented. Audrey enjoyed playing the violin and painting. She would paint the most magnificent and peculiar paintings anyone had ever seen. Most of her inspiration came from nightmares and childhood trauma.

"Audrey the point of hide and seek is to stay hidden until the person finds you", Damien said.

"Hey you said it, the quicker you find everyone the quicker you can go back to your room and I can go to the movies with Xander and Harley", Audrey replied.

Damien scoffed and stood up from the ground.

"You idiot, why do you have to ruin everything", a voice yelled from the hallway.
