Nagito was only mean to Hajime after he found out he didn't have an Ultimate Talent was because he felt lied to. Like, the one person on the island who actually gave two shits about him straight up LIED to his face about who he was. That deeply hurt Nagito, so, he distanced himself in the best way he could. Being cold and mean when Hajime was talking to him, and not even looking in his direction when Hajime was around him. Worst part about all of this was that Nagito had gained feelings for him. He gained feelings for the person that lied to him. "What bad luck, huh?" Nagito said to himself as he cried at each night, thinking about all the bullshit he's had and having to deal with.
