Matt and I had met in the middle of our final year at this school. Both of us decided we'd try to get into Duke. We sit through the speeches and all that, then there's awards for 'best athlete' or 'best artist.' "And for our final award, chosen by our student body. Best Couple goes to..." He opens the envelope. "Matthew Patrick and YN LN! Come on up here!" I rush up there with Matt. "Y'know, this would be a great time for our first kiss." I whisper in his ear. "Oh yeah?" He says, smirking. "Anything you wanna say?" He asks. "Say? No. Do? Yes." I say, and pull Matt into a kiss. Everyone cheers. "Thanks MatPat." I smile. "Anytime Tigress." He murmurs. We get pictures, and the Patrick family and I go out to eat. I made sure both of my lockets were on my neck, which they were. Everyone else talked, but I just stayed quiet. "You alright Tigress?" Matt asks. I fake a smile. "Yeah, I'm alright. Just hoping we get into Duke." I say. "We will. I hope we get good roommates, since we'll be using the dorms." He says. I nod, and stuff my face so I don't have to talk. (This is so me during a public meal 😂) I look around, and see Ace from across the restaurant. Ever since he found out I had a boyfriend, he layed off, and I was happy. I finished my meal, as did the others, and we payed. I go to Matt's room and cry into my pillow. I feel someone rub my back, trying to comfort me. "It's about your parents, isn't it?" I hear Matt asks. I nod, trying to hold back tears. He hums quietly, still rubbing my back. "Thank you Matt." I mumble. "Anytime Tigress." He says quietly. I walk over to my desk, and start drawing. He stands over my shoulder. "What are you drawing?" He asks. "I... I don't know." I say. I look back at the drawing, and I see an unfamiliar girl and Matt. I shrug. "Probably just my mind being weird. We should sleep. Tomorrow the first day of summer vacation!" I say excitedly. I take off my choker and locket off and put it on my desk, then sleep on the couch.

-in the morning-

I jolt awake from the dream I had. I quickly put on some cloths and put on my lockets. I write a quick note. Going for a run. I'll be back by nine at the most. I write, puting on my watch. I run downstairs and quietly make my way out the door. I run to where my old house was. It had sat, abandoned ever since I left. I quickly use my house key to unlock the door and explore the area. "It's just as I left it." I realize. I explore a bit, then walk out to see two police officers. "YN? Is that you?" One officer asks. "Yeah. I'm sorry, I know this is private property but I really wanted to see it again." I say, bowing my head. "It's alright. We assumed you'd come here after graduation." She says. "I'm going to go on home. See ya!" I say. "Where are you staying?" She asks. "At my boyfriend's." I say, running off. I get to Matt's and quickly run inside. "Good morning YN! How was your run?" Mrs. Patrick asks. "It was good. Is Matt awake?" I ask. "Yeah. He's is the living room playing Mario." She answers. I walk in and see him, in fact, playing Super Mario on the Wii. "Mind if I join you?" I ask. "I didn't know you liked videogames Tigress." He says. "You have a lot to learn MatPat." I say, grabbing a remote, joining, and grabbing a fire flower. "Nice YN!" He says, trying to get an Ice flower. "There's a lot more where that came from!" I say, doing a spin jump and killing the chomper plants with fire. This routine went on for a month, then we beat the game and it was time to study for our SAE'S. "I'm going to the library for some textbooks. One of each subject right?" I call out, grabbing my keys. "Yeah!" He responds. His parents were at work, so we had the house to ourselves. "I'll be back! Don't answer the door for anyone!" I say, walking out. I go to the local library that I usually visit once a week. "YN! Good morning lass. Whatcha looking fer today?" The librarian asks. Did I mention she's Irish? "Just some textbooks for our entrance exams into Duke. I already know where they are though." I say, smiling. "Alright lass. Don't hesitate to come over if ye need any help." She says. I grab around six to seven textbooks and check them out. I put them in my bag and walk home. "Matt! I'm home!" I say, walking to our room. "Did you get the textbooks Tigress?" He asks. "Sure did! Now let's study!" I say, putting the textbooks on my desk. We each grab one, and we sit in silence as we study. Now this routine stuck around for another month until it was time for our SAE'S. Personally, I was nervous about it. What if Matt got in and not me? My hands got clammy just thinking about it. Matt and I were going on on sperate days. His today; mine tomorrow. I ran to the front door, and pulled him into a kiss. "Good luck MatPat. See you later." I say, flashing a nervous smile at him. "See ya." He waves, then runs to his car. I go upstairs and find my ukulele. I play it, since it's a nervous habit. "I love you, when you singing that song yeah, I gotta lump in my throat cause, you gonna sing the words wrong." I sing as I play the chords for Riptide. I need up playing the darn thing all day until Matthew came home late that night. I retired for the night after setting my alarm and taking off my lockets.
