I wake up from the sun pounding on my face. I moan and flip to the other side. I really need curtains.

Here's a back story so you know exactly what is going on. I just moved in with my mom in California. I used to live with my dad in Ohio but he just got remarried and lets just say I don't exactly get along with her kids.

"Lexi are up?" My mom says as she walks into my room.

"Now I am." I say and sit up in my bed.

"Well why don't you get ready and we will go to the shopping and you get some new clothes and things for your room? How does that sound?" She asks while sipping her daily cup of coffee.

"Sounds good to me mom. I really need curtains." I say pointing to my big mirrors on the side of my bed.

"Oh yes! I meant to pick some up before you got here but hey we'll do that today. Are you excited for your first day of school?" She asks sitting on the corner of my mom.

My mom and I are pretty close. Even though I lived with my dad in Ohio we still texted all the time and talked on the phone every once in a while. You may ask why did my parents split up? Well they got married when my mom was 20 and when my dad was 21 so they were fairly young. They had me shortly after that so my mom is decently young. She is 38 now. She is a doctor so most of the time she isn't home.

"Yeah I am kind of excited." I say. Which is the true I am kind of excited but I am also not that excited at the same time. I used to having my close friends by my side everyday and tomorrow it is not going to be like that.

I am going to be surrounded by a bunch of people that I have no idea who they are. And I am praying that I make friends fast.

My mom and I went to a quite a lot of stores. She was definitely generous with letting me buy things but I also think its because I haven't lived with her for five years.

"Is there anything else you need?" She asks as we are making our way out of Hollister.

"Nope I think we got it all." I said with a smile. We did get some curtains at Bed Bath and Beyond so I am very happy with those. They are dark grey and very thick so I am hoping it blocks out every light of sun in the morning. If you can't tell I am not a morning person.

"Now I know you drove your car here but is there anything else like a lap top or anything you'll need for school?" My mom looks over and asks me.

I did have a white Audi at my dads house so instead of leaving it there I decided that I would just drive it to my moms.

"No but thank you mom I already have a Mac book pro." I tell her smiling.

"Okay good then it looks like we are all set to head home." She says as we pull out of the parking lot.

Once we get home I unload everything that I got into my room and start to organize it.

Its takes me about three hours but I finally finish putting away all my clothes and completely re organizing my room.

I sit on my bed and pull out my laptop. I facetime my best friend from Ohio named Chelsea.

"Omg hi girl!" She yells as soon as she picks up. "How is everything at your moms?"

"It's good. I just finished unpacking everything." I say smiling at her.

Chelsea and I have been best friends since we were 11. We meet in school and have be friends ever since. Leaving her was probably the hardest thing.
