I SCREW MY eyes shut tightly, flashes of faces flying before my eyelids.

"We have to find a cure"

My trembling hands fly to my ear, pressing my palms flat against my head as I let out an agonizing scream.

"you were sent here for a reason."

Flashes of fluorescent light blinded my grey eyes, a faint image of blue screens lining a room grazed my mind.

"come on, we have to go now."

Gunshots rang out, I drag my knees up to my chest, hugging them bruisingly tight.

"Thomas!"

A brown haired boy fell to the ground with a lifeless thud. A sharp pain searing through my head as I screamed.

"wicked is good Addison."

A women's face engraved into the back of my eyelids, agonizing pain overwhelming my body.

"send them into the maze..."

My eyes snapped open frantically, a gasp leaving my mouth. My wet hair dangling in tangled strands as I flipped myself over, water rushing up my throat in heaving coughs. My throat burned viscously, water splashing through the holes in the bottom of the crate, free falling into the empty shaft. Bringing a shaking hand up, I roughly wipe the excess drool from my cracked lips.

Throwing myself into a sitting position, I scrambled backward until my back pressed against the cool touch of the metal. My eyes working their way around the space as panic clutched my heart.

A metal cage surrounded me on all four sides barley irradiated by brief flashes of light as it flew upwards at an uncanny speed. The metal groaning and creaking with old age flooded the shaft, becoming all I could focus on.

Pants filled the small metal crate. fear and confusion fogging my head. "help!" my scream echoing a thousand times over, bouncing off the empty shaft until my ears were ringing. "help me!" My throat rubbed raw as I screamed, struggling to my feet.

Running my hands over the top of the metal box, I glance upwards briefly. A red hue illuminated two large panels, a strip of light escaping in the middle. The relief was short lived as the box buzzed, showing no signs of slowing down. My breathing became ragged as I realized the box was going to crash, whipping my head around in search of anything that would help me.

Wooden crates hugged the walls, a strange label printed in bold letter across the side. "WCKD, what the hell does that mean?" I whisper.
