TRIGGER WARNING: Hoshi is gonna really be feeling her ptsd (that nobody realizes she has) in this chapter and there will be a small bit of self harm (her hitting her head). I did my best to write it but will probably edit it at some point in the future when I'm improved to make it more realistic/deeper.
"Hoshi, it's not your fault, please stop crying," Iwaizumi is getting a little stressed because Hoshi hasn't stopped crying and he isn't exactly sure of what to do. Oikawa is having his ankle checked by the nurse while Iwaizumi waits in the hallway with Hoshi.
"It's my fault, I should've looked," she manages to get out in between her sobs. Iwaizumi decides to just hold her, and hope for the best. Her arms are around his neck and her legs are wrapped around his waist like a child while her face is buried into his neck and chest and she cries. She feels terrible.
If only she had bothered to look before making her way across the street. She probably would've seen the car, and Oikawa wouldn't have had to pull her back, causing him to twist his ankle and trip, sending them both to the ground. They have a practice match on Tuesday and he can't even play and prove himself because she's stupid enough to not check the road just because the sign said to walk.
"Iwaizumi-san? You guys can come in," the nurse opens the door and Iwaizumi walks in, a crying Hoshi still in his arms. When he reaches Oikawa's bed, Oikawa holds his arms out for her with a frown on his face. Iwaizumi gently sets her on his lap, and Oikawa cradles her small body gently.
"Hey, why're you crying still?" He asks her with furrowed eyebrows as he grabs a tissue to wipe her eyes.
"Because it's my fault, I'm so stupid," she lets out as her hands grab her head roughly and she hits herself a few times but Oikawa is quick to pull them away.
"No, it's not, calm down. That car really did come out of nowhere. My ankle will be fine by the match, it's just a small sprain. I'll take a small sprain over your death any day. That car was going insanely fast. What happened happened and I'm very thankful I was able to pull you out of the way," he has one arm around her and with his hand in her hair, holding him to his chest. His other hand is restraining both of hers in his lap so she doesn't try to hurt herself again like she seemed to be before.
Iwaizumi sits on the edge of the bed and takes over holding her hands. Instead of holding them both around the wrists like Oikawa was, he interlocked his fingers with hers as he rubbed his thumbs over the backs of her hands soothingly. Oikawa wraps both his arms around her and tightly hugs her, softly reassuring her through whispers and gentle kisses on the head. After about ten minutes, she was calmed down and quiet, staring at the floor blankly.
"Are you okay?" Iwaizumi asks her softly, worried about her current state.
"A little empty. Tired. I'm always like this after I cry that hard," she reassures them with a small smile, but it doesn't do much to reassure them as they share a worried look at her words.
